Yes, please, give us an option.
We are suffering a significant traffic drop because of this change, and tbh, this is not a bug. I can point out millions of big publications using the author name, and no author box and the vcard is in the source code.
Having the vcard for author or any extra structured data does no harm to the site.
I really avoid editing the theme codes.
Could you please ask/check with the developers and release a fix/make it optional, as soon as this month? Please?
You probably can understand my situation. We can’t show author name in articles because a reader is not interested in author’s face or bio, the byline is enough.

I need the description text of the author box (on the post page) to display fewer characters than what the description contains (and which will be displayed entirely on an author’s page, which groups his posts).

Previously there were requests for the removal of the author vcard from teh page source. Users were mentioning that the author vcard code was appearing in their page source and they wanted to remove it, most of them were not using an author box. So we linked this to the author box, as I mentioned above.
If you want the previous functionality when the author vcard is always displayed in the page source, uncomment these lines of code

If you removed the author box, the theme will remove the markup. This is mentioned in the theme update changelog

A missing author vcard may result in missing author errors detected as it happened for you. So either enable the author box, or find a different way to include the required structured data.

I updated the theme on 24th after a couple of months.
I am now seeing the author is a missing error on structured data. The live data test says that there are no errors.
I am showing the author byline but the author box is disabled because it’s not needed.
Please help us fix the issues. Google removed us from Top Stories after this, and our traffic dropped drastically 🙁
Then you are using an older version of the theme. Since 8.7.4 disabling the author box in posts will remove the author meta

Before the mentioned version it will not be removed from the page source.
The thing is i’ve done it already and the author box is not displayed on my posts. But in the source i still can find the link to the author’s page in the container td-author-name vcard author.
How can i remove it?

There is no doubled link, so it is unusual that it happens for you. Check if you are entering the link exactly as it is, in this format

I am having an issue with the URLs for my ads and social links in Author boxes not working. For some reason it is adding my website URL + the intended URL together. Example: bestofthebull.com/instagram.com/bestofthebull when the link should simply be instagram.com/bestofthebull. It doesn’t do this in actual links in articles, only in the advertisement sections and author social media links.

Does anyone know is it new wordpress update or it’s new newspaper update (I suspect the latter) which removed lots of formatting options from formatting menu in visual editor?
Previously I was able to do that within few clicks via FORMAT menu:
But now this format menu is empty, lots of blocks stuff is missing:
At the moment I do all that formatting stuff now manually via code, but it’s annoying, and other authors can’t do that, previously all you needed to do is select text and via format menu you were able to choose formatting you needed. Why it’s missing now?
Since this is Newspaper css classes and stuff, I think it was last newspaper update which removed these formatting settings from menu. But why? Can you guys add it back?
