Hi,

After talking with my colleagues seems that the simple way to make a black is to copy an existing block, change his name (not only of the file, but also in the file : http://screencast.com/t/jcst0tJi), then take a look at the bottom of the file, the last line register the block in the Visual composer : http://screencast.com/t/a6KjxMIz

also take a look at the Visual composer documentation maybe you will find it useful:

http://kb.wpbakery.com/index.php?title=Extend_Visual_Composer

http://kb.wpbakery.com/index.php?title=Visual_Composer_tutorial

hope this help

Thanks for you message.

Hi,
The default template is used only if you want to achieve a default WordPress page (content + sidebar) the other templates are built by use to make custom pages with sidebar or without, with post loop + pagination, as you can see in the documentation of the templates https://forum.tagdiv.com/page-templates/

You have used before the Visual composer(page builder) You can use it to build the page layout and to add content blocks.

Also from the template you can change some settings to: http://screencast.com/t/YDN6lyfLkD From here you have Posts per page settings for that page.

Can you give me your site URL and tell me what you can’t achieve

Thanks!

but theoretically, shouldn’t new blocks be pretty easy to test since they are just built on modules anyway??? Not trying to push the issue as I understand what you are saying–it’s more that I’m trying to make sure my logic is sound or see if I’m missing something that’s not obvious to me!

What a wonderful response. I look forward to dialoguing with you more! If you want to REALLY add 3 cents, take a look at my post about custom blocks. This seems to be something that should be a *LOT* more documented imo. In fact, I even think there should be a blog/tumblr/whatever where people can share code blocks for custom blocks/modules.

This is exactly the kind of thing that can be crowdsourced!

With that said, I’ll look more into SASS and LESS. I’m still just mastering the world of Sublime Text packages but I’ll add it to the list.

Hi Radu! Module 1 plays videos fine no problem… I just want to have a block that uses Module 1… You have described many times that you can make custom blocks… Let me ask a simpler question…

If I make a Custom Block, how do I get it to show up in Visual Composer?

Hey guys,

I’m looking to add a plugin such as http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-postratings/installation/ but I can’t find all of the pages needed to add the php code. I’d like to insert it either next/below of the title and/or below post.

Where can I locate the php files for:
category page module 8
single post page (loop-single.php, right?)
homepage block 3
widget block 3 page

I’m currently using:
block 3 on homepage (http://screencast.com/t/tkGX30IH9Ahx)
module 8 on category page (http://screencast.com/t/dGVuDZg0L)
block 3 on widgets (http://screencast.com/t/dKMuB86iwD8f)

(and it would be awesome if you can tell what code line # to post the php code in next to the title, if not its okay I will mess around with it)

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

1. To change the DON”T MISS title, that is from Block, Edit your homepage, then edit the Block from here: http://screencast.com/t/ulm999eC87 there you will find all the block settings including the title for the block.

2. To change the latest post category, edit your homepage and go here: http://screencast.com/t/owdjHOqN

Thanks for the message!

hi,
i have talk wit my colleagues and they also said that what you want is hard to do.
you need to custom create a hole block and a module to display the video directly in page.

good look

Hi…no….

What I mean is that when I change the template to “content with article list” in order to produce the page numbers for that specific page (which isn’t the homepage), the template for that page changes too. So it was just a block, however after it has been changed from “default template” to “homepage with article list” it puts the homepage feed on the bottom too, as well as the single block (block 6).

Hope this helps?

Hi,
Sorry but i can’t find a working solution. Also please do not use the above solution, i see that brake the block functionality when you use sorting category.

The sticky post works fine in loop but not in blocks.

I’d like to have a featured video on the front page that is always the newest video. I’d like it to actually SHOW the YouTube video so the user can click on the video immediately without having to go to the individual post.

I tried creating block0 and just replacing everything with module1 but my block doesn’t show up in visual composer.

Am I on the right track for how to do this? I’m basically just trying to turn module 1 into a functioning block.

Let me know if anyone has any suggestions! Thanks!

I have a couple styling issues on my site after updating to v3.6 from 3.5. The first of which is the font styling for the Big Slide. It’s no longer uppercase. I read another post saying their customization to font styling had broken, so I specifically went and changed the big slide to transform text to uppercase, however it only changed it for the first image, and not the 3 next to the main image.

See here:

http://awesomescreenshot.com/06a2melj86
http://awesomescreenshot.com/0012melw0a

Also, the styling for text widgets has changed causing an issue for a text widget I am using with HTML for text with title block.

http://awesomescreenshot.com/09f2mem2ba

This appears to be due to !important no longer being applied to the td block title widgets. I’m guessing this may have been changed for the new font system? If that’s the case then how can I have a widget with a title and the correct link color? Maybe there should be a TD text with title widget?

Hi,
These are for aligning the blocks I would be happy if there would be option to set colors and give this block looking like other blocks on the website.
means when user looks at the feed post it should not look like feed but normal post heading styles should be there.

Hi,
You can use this CSS:

.widget_rss .block-title a {
  color: #FFFFFF;
  padding-left: 0px;
}
.widget_rss .block-title img {
  padding-bottom: 3px;
}
.widget_rss ul {
  padding-top: 9px;
}

We will fix this in the next update.

Hi,
The block doesn’t support custom taxonomies only custom post type http://screencast.com/t/EGELL9nfr3g

What you can do to filter by some custom taxonomy is to make custom sorting type, like here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/random-posts-from-today-and-last-7-days/#post-10283 but use this: Querying by taxonomy http://codex.wordpress.org/Taxonomies

Hi, I don’t really want to post my site here. Can I private message it to you in some way?

And I will try to see if this works, however if disabling the plugins works, what if I also need them too?

Thanks Radu,

I can follow the instructions as provided but it doesn’t do what my client wants so I’ll need to look to get external help I think.

Thanks for all the support 🙂

Thank you for you response.

Unfortunatly it’s not really what I expected.
In my case:
– Slider “Cat1” + “Featured”
Block “Cat1”
– Posts repeted: no
Your solution puts the post “sticky” in the Slider, even if it is not in “Featured”

I would like to have only the sticky option effective in the block.

hi,
the post is displayed using modules : http://screencast.com/t/czJwJz8An

we have grouped a couple of modules in blocks: http://import.tagdiv.com/newspaper/doc/#blocks

for 2 sidebars on a page:
first use : http://screencast.com/t/TesfoB9gA

then split the element in 3 : http://screencast.com/t/ImiLEiap

then create your new sidebars using the sidebars control (you can find this in the categories) : http://screencast.com/t/lIsiCARl4K5P . you can create how many sidebars you want.

you will find the new created sidebars in the widgets area: http://screencast.com/t/vnBqKWVz , drag what widget you desire on the sidebars

then go back to you page and add the sidebars to the splinted element :
http://screencast.com/t/VGONO1Ud57j
http://screencast.com/t/vnBqKWVz

and finally save

Thanks for you message.
