Hi Marius,

Have tried all combinations mate. The simplest was to put images in child theme folder and reference files from there.

Currently I have the path as ‘images/top-header-fi.png’; and still no joy. Is there any way of overriding the template that’s being loaded? Not sure what’s up as it should be pretty simple.

Cheers

Hi guys,

I’d like to replace the images in the Newspaper/images/no-thumb/ folder. I can obviously do it from the folder but I’d like to make sure that the theme uses my images in the child folder. Trying to make sure after theme updates I don’t need to worry about adding them in again.

Thanks as always

Hi Marius,

Another weird thing going on. I just got this message after I tried to delete a theme:

Warning: include(/home/atelier/public_html/demo/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/td_wordpres_booster.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/atelier/public_html/demo/wp-content/themes/DEMO Finland/functions.php on line 9

Warning: include(): Failed opening ‘/home/atelier/public_html/demo/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/td_wordpres_booster.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/atelier/public_html/demo/wp-content/themes/DEMO Finland/functions.php on line 9

The child theme apparently broke and default theme activated? I have now commented out line 9 so hoping this won’t cause issues?

Look forward to hearing from you,
Hash

Hi!
I’d like to add some required fields to the register form in the modal box (for exemple, birthdate, password, etc.)

In my child theme, I tried to override the widget “td_login_widget” and the function “td_mod_register” in the file “td_ajax”. Unfortunately, these changes have no effect and it is like I can’t override thoses functions.

I would not edit these files in the parent theme, because I will lose everything each time I will update the theme.

Can someone give me a hand or just explain to me what I am doing wrong? It would be much appreciated! Thank you very much!

I don’t want other thumbnail. i want to stop extra image sizes that are saved in our wp-contact folder. i only want when we upload image then only single size 326×159 generate not more extra.
When we update main theme functions.php file then works fine but not in child theme functions.

Copy all thumb generation sizes from the functions.php file into the child-themes functions.php file and set each one to the size you want. If you want only 326×159 images then set all to that size and regenerate all thumbs. But only copy the code you are changing to the child-theme, not the whole file.

1. Upload the new theme or the patch over your existing theme.
2. Please make sure to delete the /newspaper/wpbakery folder from after you update the theme.
3. Install the required pagebuilder plugin

Your instructions forgot step 2.1 in which the following occurs…

http://screencast.com/t/z7i9FL4drV2F

WTF? Tried all again and nothing. Whole site, front and back end, show these errors. Tried uploading the wpbakery folder from 3.6 again and all is fine, but I can find no composer plugin in the files, nor does a message for the required plugin show up anywhere on the site.

Could this be an issue of using the child theme????? Site broken on 3.7, complete failure.

If you are working with a child theme, deactivate it before attempting to install Visual Composer (activate Newspaper parent theme).

As I said, followed all your steps exactly as you show. Still not working…

Is there a css thing I can add or something? Because no matter what category ID I throw in there, it shows me random posts.

I’m using child theme, so that might be the issue? Btw: I’ve edited both the newspaper more article box file and the child theme file, just to be sure…

Dear TagDiv

I would like to change the subtitle into H2?
Is it possible? I use child theme.

Marius

Hi,
You need to copy only your modified code in Child Theme not the entire function.php file.
Here is the Child the documentation: https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

Hope this help!
Thanks for the message!

Hi,
Add your custom CSS in Custom CSS section in Theme panel, no matter if you use The Child Theme. On updates you will not loose the CSS.

Thanks!

Hello Sir,
I am using child theme because we edited many files. I want to prevent some automatic generated thumbnail, so edited functions.php file and when pasted edited code into child theme functions then site is not working.
So how we can use child functions.php file.

Hi,

My version is the 3.0.

I istalled and configured Advanced Custom Fields and

I did this http://screencast.com/t/5FOgXORGMMp and this http://screencast.com/t/A7KWAo2hlNRf and even this http://screencast.com/t/xFyqF7MGDa (for child themes).

I got the same error message.

The line is different from your Screencast figure, the php line for content_inline has “and $tds_inline_ad_paragraph > 0” not showed in your picture [http://screencast.com/t/5FOgXORGMMp].

I tried to remove it, but I got the error message either.

Any clues?

Thanks for your support (and patience).

My question is, do I make changes in the functions.php in the child theme or in the main theme? when I add

//featured image
$td_crop_features_image = td_util::get_option('tds_' . 'crop_features_image');
if ($td_crop_features_image == '') {
    add_image_size('featured-image', 320, 0, true);
} else {
    add_image_size('featured-image', 320, 180, true);
}

in the child theme nothing happend

Thank you for helping

Hi,

I had given up for a while, now with V3 it looks great, im exited.

What should I do now to get the result we achieved above?

In the functions.php of the theme I found:

<?php

/*  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    WordPress booster framework - this is our theme framework - all the content and settings are there

    It is not necessary to include it in the child theme only if you want to use the API

*/

if (!defined('TD_THEME_WP_BOOSTER')) {

	include TEMPLATEPATH . '/includes/td_wordpres_booster.php';

}

I am confused, thank you for your help.
