Hi guys,I have rather many categories added in my “main” menu. I have chosen these items to be in white color with a blue background. The issue is that when I reduce the size of the web browser screen (on my computer), I notice that the menu items jump down one row. However, the row that it jumps down to is in white (since the background of my website is white) so you can’t even see the last items of the menu anymore, they just get hidden based on the color. It just results in an extra white row. I have to reduce the screen size significantly more for it to start using the “mobile menu” instead.
This creates problems for everyone using those screen sizes in the middle, between full size and “mobile size”, since they can’t see the items of the menu. How do I fix this? One idea, which many themes do, is that the background color of the menu also gets one more row when the menu items get one more row (which in this case would mean that the blue color also gets one more row when the white menu items get it). Is this possible, or do you have any other fix for this issue?
Thank you in advance.

Hello,I’m not sure how you changed the header color. If you change it from the theme panel as recommended, and not with custom css, then it will show properly even if your content falls on 2 rows: http://screencast.com/t/vY1ELC9a Here is the back-end setting required for this: http://screencast.com/t/jjDCCU4ab Please use the theme panel settings to change theme colors. If you have any further questions, please open a nw topic on our official support forum at https://forum.tagdiv.com/forum/newspaper/
Thank you! Bogdan B

Thanks Bogdan.I did change the color in the theme panel settings, but I am still getting this issue.
Could it be that I am using version Version: 4.6.1? I would really not like to update, because I did try to update a while ago but so many things had changed and I spent a whole day trying to get things back to the same look and function as I had with the older version, and in the end I down-graded again to the older version since I didn’t get things the way I wanted them to be. Therefore, can I solve this issue with 4.6.1? From what I can understand, it should be just a small code-change for the menu-strip to expand in accordance with the menu.
Thank you.

Hello,Please open a new topic on our support forum and provide a link to your site so we can take a look at it and maybe provide the proper code for the menu. We suggest updating the theme though eventually as more and more things will start to break as you update everything around the theme, but not the theme. Newspaper version 4 is almost 2 years old. We cannot assure it’s compatibility with the latest versions of wordpress or plugins. Eventually you will have to take this step and update the theme.
Thank you! Bogdan B
Would you be able to help me and provide the proper code for the menu? I would very much appreciate it. The website is homereviewed.com.
Thank you.
Hello,
The featured category is a category that is added automatically by our theme. you populate posts on the mobile theme grid by adding the posts in the “featured” category: http://screencast.com/t/XEpsK8Vd5FqR
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-posts-2/
Thank you!
Hello,
Unfortunately the mobile theme is still in version 1 and there are not too many options for customization added to it. Fonts can be changed with css for mobile but image sizes cannot be changed even in the main theme. Image sizes are fixed in our theme and each element has it’s own predefined thumb.
The author will need a bit of a css fix as the css got changed a bit in the new update but the author name was not updated for it. So until the next theme version please use this CSS code in the mobile theme’s custom code box:
.td-post-author-name div { display:inline; }
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you!
” A possible solution would be to add support for Visual Composer in mobile theme but for the moment we don’t plan to add this feature as will defeat theme’s purpose”
70% of the internet is on mobile now. Even google is almost ready to go “Mobile first” for their ranking algorithm and everything. So, I can’t ignore mobile speed and optimization but at the same time, just because of speed, we are killing almost all other features that Newspaper has to offer. It’s so ironic that the whole documentation for Newspaper mobile theme can be written on just one full-length page but it’s been used 70-80% of the time ( in terms of traffic). Hence , we are doing everything for 20-30% traffic but not for the major portion 🙁
I also feel that just because now you have created a separate plugin for the mobile theme, psychologically , you might be putting less effort in making further mobile optimization in your parent theme. Since you might be thinking that you have already achieved 300-400% more optimization on mobile theme so, if someone needs speed, you have a ‘ ready answer’ to ask them to use “Mobile theme” . but that time, neither user, nor you think that in that case, the whole awesome “Newspaper” theme will become the simplest blog theme which has nothing to offer other than speed in terms functionality;
So, Please give enough time to mobile theme feature updates and then you can give an option to “enable and disable” visual composer for mobile theme.
In fact, for the main theme too, we should have the option to disable or enable “loading of extra codes” page. post or categories basis to optimize it fully. We are using hard-coded shortcodes and smart list options in our various posts, so, if we even think to change the theme in future, it is going to break the site. So, it’s highly unlikely that we are ever going to change the theme.
Therefore we have high hopes from TagDiv.
Thank you.

Hi,
There was a conflict between mobile theme plugin and SEO By Yoast. Try to delete the mobile theme plugin and install this version: http://cdn.tagdiv.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/td-mobile-plugin.zip clear all caches then test the site again.
Let us know ho it goes.
Thanks!
Hi
Mobile theme can’t be disabled only for a specific page, sorry. When is used it will affect or change the entire site. A possible solution would be to add support for Visual Composer in mobile theme but for the moment we don’t plan to add this feature as will defeat theme’s purpose. Mobile theme was intent to be fast and many feature were removed to increase the speed. For the moment the only way to use Visual Composer on mobile devices is by using the main theme.
Thanks!
Hi
Mobile theme loads the js in head by default but you can try to use the speed booster plugin to move it in footer. Please check our documentation for more details in this regard: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
Thanks!
Hello Bogdan,
Thank you for your fast reply.
I realized that the width is indeed smaller than 728px, but hopefully forcing that size for the “Article bottom ad” looks OK.
I am taking this opportunity to point this out. Since this is the most common banner size of AdSense, wouldn’t it be appropriate for a theme that claims to be AdSense optimized, to allow for such a size in the main part and a 300px on the sidebar?
I would like to clarify this from the very beginning though, I am not complaining or anything… I am just curious why you decided to go for a 696px width when using a sidebar. No sidebar is a rather uncommon layout nowadays and with the most common widths of AdSense being 300px, 728px, 970px, it just doesn’t make sense. A width of 696px is too large for a mobile banner of 320px and it is small for 728px. “Resizable” ads will resize to 696px * 84px making their text unreadable in most cases, while non-resizable ads will show as 320px * 100px leaving 188px of blank space from left and right.
Furthermore, AdSense links are around for centuries and in fact, they are very effective. Without any special types of ads, or special accounts, like AdSense Premium, AdSense allows 3 Ad units and ANOTHER 3 Ad links. Not supporting links, in theory, cuts the potential ad revenue in half and it is definitely a missing feature of an AdSense optimized theme.
Thus, consider a suggestion of mine to add support for AdSense Ad links and possibly widen the main part of the theme to 728px.
Thank you very much,
D.
Hello,
Please read the mobile theme documentation to learn about the mobile theme functionality: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
Thank you!

HI
Try this css in theme panel > custom code > custom css to hide the more article box for mobile devices:
@media(max-width: 768px){
.td-more-articles-box{
display: none;
}
}
Thanks!
HI @eugenio811
The theme will display the sidebar below post content on mobile devices, this is its default implementation. As @Chris suggested you can use article inline ads and make them visible only on mobile devices: http://screencast.com/t/ogjSIrGCincL
Thanks!
Hi there. Great theme, but I’m have some issues with the mobile version.
I had the same problem as in this thread: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/mobile-theme-issue-2/#post-138844 and I installed the version you provided.
I don’t know if it’d happen with the original version too, but right now, nothing is clickable. You can get into the homepage (http://www.foroatletismo.com/) and search and open the menu, but the posts aren’t clickable. The same happens in inside categories.
What could be the solution?
Thanks in advance
Salva.
Hi
Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer Composer, clear all caches then test the site again. Usually this issue occur because of Jetpack mobile theme module which conflicts with our theme so try to deactivate this module and check how it goes.
Thanks!
Hello,
Unfortunately our theme does not have such an option, The mobile version offers a mobile menu and a search icon. These elements cannot be removed from the theme settings in order to have the full width logo and no menus. it will have to be made through customization.
Thank you!
hi sir
I have installed theme on designposts.net

thanks, waiting
Our web host, WP Engine, reported the below…is tasking our server…can yo advised how to kill these??
dave
That first action, td_ajax_update_views, occurred over 200 in just that short period of time. I then looked through the install’s file system on your behalf for any references to that action. It looks to be associated with your theme:
wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_wp_booster_functions.php
150:add_action(‘wp_ajax_nopriv_td_ajax_update_views’, array(‘td_ajax’, ‘on_ajax_update_views’));
151:add_action(‘wp_ajax_td_ajax_update_views’, array(‘td_ajax’, ‘on_ajax_update_views’));
wp-content/themes/Newspaper/mobile/js/tagdiv_theme.js
1563: pageTypeAction = ‘td_ajax_update_views’;
wp-content/themes/Newspaper/js/tagdiv_theme.js
7104: pageTypeAction = ‘td_ajax_update_views’;
Turn off the sidebar ads on mobile from theme panel with toggle;
turn on the ‘insert in posts’ ad for mobile. 🙂
Hey There,
I can’t find anywhere in the theme panel where I can set the featured category for the mobile theme. Are you able to please tell me where I do this.
Kind Regards
Belinda
Hello!

sir my issue is that i am leaving mobile editor blank but it is showing visual composer code…in mobile front end…i sir dont tell me to turn off mobile theme i am here for your help 🙂
the details in link above are not sufficent please help me out
I love Mobile theme. It’s really fast. But here is the issue.
Apart from general daily use, sometimes I need to create a new page or post which needs visual composer functions.
Is there any way to disable or exclude “mobile theme plugins” for certain pages or posts ? Can’t we write some code which will make “mobile theme plugin” ineffective for certain pages or posts?
I know you might tell me to disable the mobile theme , but please try to understand that it is not a solution. Mobile theme makes websites really super fast but for certain pages, visual richness is more important than speed.
TagDiv is a strong team and all your themes are going to be used by us for long long time so. it’s really important to find solutions to these issues. If not now and then at least in the future updates.
Please give me some hope.
Hi,
I’m looking for the system to improve the google speed performance for
mobile theme that contrarily to desktop have a score about 72 instead of 93
problem are “remove javascript…”
…s/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js?ver=1.11.1
…spaper/mobile/js/tagdiv_theme.js?ver=7.4
So I try to put within script parameter “defer” or “async” with a specific function
in newspaper/mobile/function.php
There does not seem to be having trouble viewing with mobile theme
but the you tube videos (and vimeo) are no longer reduced to the size
of the device used.
Any advice on how to solve the problem?
Thanks
Note it depends on the font; some fonts are “normal” at 400 and don’t have a 300 version. Some fonts are “too thin” on all devices (ever notice those sites with headlines where on mobile you can barely read them for being too thin at 300 weight?).
Ideally you should disable all fonts setup with theme and instead build your own custom font stack to use in your style.css and load from your footer.php file — yes, you need to update this each time the theme updates.
Probably not best advice; but most poeple won’t want to load the 300 weight to bog down their website loading if not using it.
Just some feedback; might not help in any way 🙂
Hi there,
I have several pages on my site such as an “about me” page and a “subscribe” page that I’ve made myself. How do I get these pages to appear on the mobile theme?
Thanks!
