Also, you don’t use the right page template, if you want to use the page builder + sidebar use Homepage – blank template like here: http://screencast.com/t/Vx9UbL49W1j4 and also use 2/3 – 1/3 and use the widgetised sidebar to add the sidebar on that page and also the content using page builder.

Hello I have a problem with the images in my website (images in blank)
i can’t see the images in the home,in the sliders, latest only can see inside the post, right now i have 856 pictures on my site… i try using Regenerate Thumbnails but did not work……

@kronos i have already regenerated all the thumbnails. I am running this theme for more than 6 months now and everything was going fine until now. The theme stopped making extra thumbnails just all of a sudden. Also, i would like you to know that before when i uploaded any images, it automatically created many versions of the image in different sizes to use for thumbnails in different places but now the image just remains intact and when i check the uploads directory in wordpress i only found one image.
Also i am currently running WordPress v3.9 and v3.6 of the Newspaper theme. I just don’t want to upgrade the theme because i’ve entered a lot of custom code in the header and the new updates doesn’t have anything for me. I don’t need any of the new features they launched. Please provide any solution to the problem.

Go download the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin at http://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/. It’s free and recommended by tagDiv when you change an existing site to Newspaper. It may take a while to complete but once you activate the plugin look in your admin menu under Tools for Regen. Thumbnails and run it. If you experience any kind of timeout just run it again and again until it tells you that it has completed.
I see you have a lot of content. I ran that plugin with more. It took a while.
This will fix all of your thumbnails to the correct size. I also strongly recommend turning on cropping as picture above for all new images you add. With it on a lot of the work is done for you. Just make sure you upload about 800px wide images and it’s load and go for you.

After the update of the template (version 3.8) I have had a problem with “register/log in” button via tagDiv Login Form. I mean when you insert the username and password and subsequently click “log in” there is no response. Previously I’ve also had the problem because of this plugin, and still I can’t register. Do you have any suggestions? In addition, my website doesn’t have many plugins which could possibly cause such errors. I use e.g. ( WordPress SEO, Plugin Organizer, tagDiv Speedbooster, tagDiv Social Counter, Regenerate Thumbnails, WpProQuiz, Compact Audio Player, bbPress, Wp Super Cache, JetPack, Aksiment).
What’s more, this plugin has caused many “artificial attempts” to log in which naturally didn’t take place and due to that my hosting provider blocked my IP for some time. Is there any good solution so that my users could register/log in with the use of this plugin? I’d be more than grateful for your help 🙂
I would also like to thank you Christopher for all the detail and clear explanations you have generously given. You support has personally helped me get this site, and others, up an running a lot quicker and with less angst. You will be missed and your rewards will be great.
On a side note with the images my site was a mess changing over but Marius solution of using Thumbnail Upscale and Force Regenerate Thumbnails has worked well. Although I hate running lots of plugins so if your solution works I would be interested in hearing what you come up with.

Copy all thumb generation sizes from the functions.php file into the child-themes functions.php file and set each one to the size you want. If you want only 326×159 images then set all to that size and regenerate all thumbs. But only copy the code you are changing to the child-theme, not the whole file.

Thanks for your help, Marius – I regenerated the thumbnails and I am happy about that.
But still I have the other two problems, let me describe it a bit more detailed: First I used a text widget with html, then the link on the image was only clickable on a few pixels at the top. But that only happended, when the widget was one of the firsts in my sidebar – when i put the same widget at the bottom of the sidebar it worked well and the entire image was clickable.
The other thing thing: Using a module in the sidebar which contains pages. I.e. I would like to feature my “About” page in the sidebar, like I would be able to do it with posts. How exactly can I do that? What exactly do I have to type into the field “pages” (see your screenshot above)?

I think you can remove unwanted/un-used thumbnail sizes by editing functions.php
One trick is to regenerate thumbs with small/medium/large set to the sizes you want in theme to avoid duplicates.
One plugin can regenerate thumbs from first image in post, when files are uploaded via FTP, which is what we do on most of our sites. I’ve recommended it a few times and I should be getting a kick back for how many people have bought it by now 🙂

I know this theme regenerate a lot of image size for every block style but for other than featured image, it cause a ton of unused images in website.
My site collect over 60 – 100 images per post so increase inodes to limit faster, I use other ways to reduce number of crop size
• DNUI plugin – I used 2 month ago, good plug-in to remove unused image without update 2 years. but now it cause problem to database and slow my website to crash.
• Image cleanup plugin – can’t remove because image “ref” to theme (see first image above)
• Free Host for Pic – Good choice but not answers.
Question
1. Possible regenerate size only feature image or not regenerate all images and use other plug-in create thumbnail instead ?
2. Is some plugin can regenerate thumbnail images (not featured) from upload file via FTP ? (prevent regenerate size by theme)
3. some plugin can remove unused image (except DNUI and image cleanup) ?
The solution we use is called Auto Post Thumbnail PRO which is also available super cheap via Envato/Themeforest.
It will automatically make first image in post the featured image, and also works if it’s a video only post, and you can set a default image, and regenerate (check memory setting, or it will just stop about about 300 items). Works great.

I used the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to rebuild thumbnails of featured images. However, it didn’t work fine with me (yes, the theme was activated).
As you can see HERE, the slider is awful (probably because the images are too small) and there is a gray bar on the posts pages.
I only have tested with a couple of images and I want to know if there is any way to fix, at least, the images of posts.
Since my slider has two columns, if I use the size 700×357 for future images it will work fine ?
Other two quick questions:
1) It is possible to have two sliders on the same page ?
2) There is any trick to have more than a block with articles filtered by author (it only show me the Admin but I have two more authors) ?

The images are cropped at 700, default you need to change the size to a little bigger if you changed the layout size.
Go to function.php and change that 700 to bigger size to fit your new layout. Also after you change the size you need to regenerate the images: https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-the-theme-with-existing-content/

Of course, the issue is needing the images to upscale “when published/uploaded” and not have to delete all the thumbs and regenerate them over and over….
I don’t have a test production site I can test these without possibly damaging them, but will try that out.
Obviously built-in support is still preferable as with existing themes that hook into imagemagick libs (now default support with WP), or which use timthumb or vt_resize.
Since WP now supports ImageMagick as default over GD libs, it seems preferable to use the server side capability to easily resize/crop from top images.

I seem to have an issue I cannot debug, and have tried using regenerate thumbnails, auto-post-thumbnail-pro, and even deleting a featured image, and uploading new file.
E.g.,
I have 700×406 image, set as featured image, cannot get the larger image for home page slider block (large left image, 745×483). No caching. Also, a 650×350 image from older article/theme, won’t enlarge to the “featured” image size for category 700×357.
Not sure if there is some king of image/function setting blocking the moderate enlargement for use in the featured box sizes, but I have cropping “on” in the theme panel, which is needed by the WP image scaler to create larger image (“enlargement”), and have “crop to actual size” on in wp settings > media.
In media, I have thumbnails set to:
small = 100×65
medium = 700×357
large = 745×483
Anyone have an idea why I’m not able to get the enlarged versions generated? Theme should “build these” or the regen plugin “should” do this, but not getting either working.
Directory for images is writable and owned by ftpuser, not server/apache, so not a permissions issue.
Any feedback would be helpful. I am now stumped after messing with this on/off for two days. I even tried deleting ALL thumbnails (!!!) and then manually going back in and reuploading the featured images on 50 posts (OUCH!!!). So, done my due diligence on anything remotely obvious here.

One tip is to set the small, medium and large thumbnail settings for wordpress to match the sizes you’re using on home page and categories, found at:
wp admin > settings > media
but to “fix” existing images, you would likely need to run “regenerate thumbnails” plugin (I am actually doing this right now … myself since I started building pages without the front page setup, so now my pix on front page aren’t as deep as the right boxes ….!).
small = 100×65
medium = 700×357
large = 745×483
Ideally you should have back-up of all your images, as standard practice before installing anything or running any plugin which changes content.
However, you can simply re-run the regenerate thumbnail plugin to the sizes you were using before. But read the help info that comes with the plugin as it describes the best way to use it, how to “un-use” it and so forth.
I believe the “cropped” setting is in the theme panel; so you should “uncheck” that, and then re-run the thumbnail regen plugin to see if that fixes things.
It’s also useful to set the default small, medium, large settings in the main wordpress > settings > media … to limit number of thumbs actually built.
If the files are too big (in KBs) you can also use my hack in the functions.php file (search forum) to reduce the file sizes created by about 40%.
