- NewsmagSharing buttons
Hello tagDiv!
This is the last time I’m going to request a feature. Although none of my requests was completed before, hope you guys add this little feature now.
I was thinking of adding a BREAKING NEWS or Popular Now ticker, which can be controlled from the Theme Panel (enable and disable option must be available). Also, don’t use a it automatically (based on views), just a option to add the title and link. I’ve already done that on my site using html, but I will need to do it again and again…so please add this simple feature.
You can my mine one here. (google drive photo)
thanks!
Hi,
1. We will add that in the next update.
2. Are not included, if you want you can disable the default one and use a plugin for all socials.
Thanks for the message!
hi,
thanks for the suggestion. right now we don’t have this option, but I think there is a plugin that duos this. try to use it.
Thanks for you message.

Hello,
I would like to know if, in addition to facebook, google+, pinterest and twitter if you have already, or plan to add more article sharing options? I would specifically like to have email sharing.
Thanks.
Philip
This may have already been answered but I have a couple of quick questions regarding the Article Sharing social media buttons:
1. With the new Twitter button, is it possible in the settings somewhere to add our Twitter handle (e.g. via @Handle) at the end of each Tweet. I was able to previously on the earlier NP versions prior to upgrading to 3.5 but now I can’t seem to find that in the theme settings.
2. Is it possible to have additional social media share buttons for StumbleUpon and Reddit? Are these included by default or can they be created?
Thanks
Chris
Hello,
A colleague of mine reported that the Blue underline on the Home icon in the main menu is out of place in Win8 + Chrome.
You can check screenshot at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwNhe0qwM8wtTHhndjBRWkduUzZHRDJCcHFsOWhuTkFuVVgw/edit?usp=sharing
On my mac it works with Safari and with Chrome.
Thanks.
Hello. This is my first post on the forum. Glad to know you’re back in action after the several day outage. Sharing border/being so close to Ukraine/Crimea, we were praying that your team was A-OK. Newspaper is simply AWESOME! There is nothing else out there that compares to it.
Question: Which modules of JetPack should I activate to get the best overall performance and functionality with Newspaper?
Anxiously await your reply.
Philip
+1 I like how mashable does it in the screenshot, even better than v2.
Love the v3 icons.
great job
Hi,
Is fixed and will be available in the next update. Thanks!
Hey guys,
first of all: Great theme and great evolution sind version 2.2. But, there is big problem with the social sharing buttons.
You used get_page() to retrieve the url of the current page and to pass them to facebook and twitter. I’m using a custom permalink structure and get_page() did not returned the correct permalink, in example missing the category slug. So I changed get_page() to urlencode(get_permalink()) in “Newspaper/includes/modules/module_modifier/td_module_blog.php” and it works nicely for me, returning the correct and fully link to the article.
Best regards!
Mark
Before td_module_1 was updated i used a custom function to insert the facebook comment box in single posts. Now that td_module_1 is updated i want to add the code in this file, but i cant seem to make it work…
<footer>
<?php echo $this->get_post_pagination();?>
<?php echo $this->get_review();?>
<?php echo $this->get_the_tags();?>
<?php echo $this->get_source_and_via();?>
<?php echo $this->get_social_sharing();?>
<?php echo $this->get_next_prev_posts();?>
<?php echo $this->get_author_box();?>
<div class="fb-comments" data-href="<?php get_permalink();?>" data-colorscheme="light" data-numposts="5" data-mobile="false" data-width="700"></div>;
</footer>
This code does not seem to work… Anyone has any suggestions on how to get this working?
We will add them back and also will try to improve the newest.
Thanks!
How about an option to choose between the previous social sharing buttons (the native ones) with those new ones so we can easily switch.
+1
Hi, @Marius, I downgraded cos of this sharing behavior, but any post of your demo site does exactly the same: no count for shares, Twitter displays only the ULR and you need to do a couple of clicks on Facebook insted of just “like it”.
+1 for this great suggestion!
also please put like button back ASAP!!!
The mobile score is better ;). But in the screenshots appears empty the mobile screen :S
In w3 total cache i only check the Page Cache in the general settings tab or i need make more changes in the other tabs?
The option of Minify should be enable?
I use http://cssminifier.com/ for my style.css and works but i realized another pagespeed test ando mobile score was 59.

Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
Your page has 5 blocking script resources and 8 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.
None of the above-the-fold content on your page could be rendered without waiting for the following resources to load. Try to defer or asynchronously load blocking resources, or inline the critical portions of those resources directly in the HTML.
Remove render-blocking JavaScript:

Prioritize visible content
Your page requires additional network round trips to render the above-the-fold content. For best performance, reduce the amount of HTML needed to render above-the-fold content.
55.9KiB of the response was required to render the above-the-fold content. Prioritize visible content that is needed for rendering above-the-fold.

What can i do to improve this? The thing that appear in the list are of jetpack pluging, contact-form, and things of the theme. The screenshots in mobile test only show the menu with any format, and in the desktop text the screen was empty.
I compare the source code of the theme demo with the souce code of my page and its too different. :S. I think this theme is too complicated to config correctly to improve the speed. Its necessary a guide to config the plugins like the theme demo, with the same options, then each user could comment your personal issues. If in the demo has been changed .htaccess for improve the speed and changed a w3 total cache, i think its necessary a guide because the speed of theme is one of best things that it have. If you make a bad config of this items, the theme is slowly like another themes.
Another question, i update the theme with the patch folder, is better reinstall all theme or is the same? I tell this because one of the updates was “clean code” and in my <head> there are a lot of code, more than in the theme demo and another pages that the people put here in the other posts :S
PD sorry for the english 🙂
The beauty of social share buttons is that they do all the work and make it easier for everyone to share what they like.
As a reader I don’t want to have to type anything when using a twitter (or other) social sharing button. If I have to type (or even copy and paste the title), the chances are – I am not going to share the article.
As a publisher, I want to know that my shared content will look good and not spammy when shared on social media.
The problem with just having a link in the sharing space is that most people won’t bother to type anything to identify the content. Once shared, apart from looking a bit spammy, not many will click on the link by itself.
I am not sure how to put the old code back, but happy to follow a tutorial if you guys are not prepared/ not intending to add the title back.
The share count is also a big thing for me as a publisher. I want new readers to see how many times the article they read has been shared. Hopefully that will encourage them to share it too.
You guys know about the power of social media more than anyone, so why hide the share count?
I just noticed that my Jetpack social share buttons don’t appear on pages. Has this been fixed?
hi,
create a field in the database where to store the counter, then take a look at the get_social_sharing() function in the td_module_blog.php file : http://screencast.com/t/1w6CdrZna .
then add some code to update the counter every time the button is hit.
Thanks for you message.
Radu A.
hi,
thank you for your suggestion.
we will have a discussion about this.
Thanks for you message.
Radu A.
I agree with this suggestion. Showing the number of shares do have an impact.
I miss a share count too even though I like the new share buttons. Shares are important and should be shown.

source plugin?
