Thanks very kindly, Andrei! I carefully followed your instructions . . . without success.
When I added the code to td_module.php, both the author and title disappeared from the category list (yay!), and the date (though not the author) disappeared from single entries.
Please see the following screenshots.

I put in the get_author and get_author_box hiding code into loop-single-2.php (because I’m using Theme Panel > Post Settings > Default post template (site wide) > Style 2), but didn’t see any change.
So, I put in the code wherever I could in ALL of the loop-single files (1–8 and single) just to make sure I was doing things correctly, but to no avail.
I also couldn’t see any difference with the custom CSS in Theme Panel > Custom CSS. =(
Finally, I noticed that the changes I could see only took place when I edited the parent theme’s files directly. I didn’t see any difference whatsoever when editing the same files copied into the child theme.
Perhaps I’m misunderstanding the point of a child theme, but isn’t the whole idea to be able to affect change without editing the parent theme’s files?
Such that, when the parent theme updates, all of your changes aren’t lost?
It feels, with 3 out of 4 conditions being filled because of the td_module.php code, that we’re very, very close. I’d love to get that 4th condition (author name on single entries) hidden!
Please advise on next steps I could take, with many thanks again in advance.

I had the same problem and I found out it was a bit of Raw HTML that I had updated my page with. Once I removed it it all came back. Hope this helps.
You generally only need to start ONE thread for a topic, and then update it with more info or link, etc. vs starting duplicate. 🙂

After updating new version of theme my sit down. After that i did following point to recover my site.
1. Disable plugins – no success
2. enable wordpress debug mode – i understand child theme not working properly as new theme does not have many classes.
3. i again re-uploaded my older theme version. site is stable now.
Problems :
1. My Sidebar in Post not coming. i tried many options from theme option but no success.
2. How do i update new version of theme. I am using child-theme also. As per my understanding of wordpress we use child-theme to improve hacks of original theme. PS explain the procedure.
Guys plz support asap as my site has good visitors in weekends.

I have had this theme for a little while and this is the 1st time I have had this problem.
When I go to update a page: I make any change, and once I click update I can no longer see (approximately) the bottom 1/2 of the visual composer screen.
It still shows up on my page but I am no longer able to access any of the information that is now “Hidden” from view in visual composer.
When I click classic mode, I can see all of the code, but when i click back to Backend view the “bottom 1/2” of my items are hidden.
Would greatly appreciate any help with this problem.
I have already updated all of my plugins, deactivated and reactivated visual composer and the problem still persists on any page I update.

I am trying to upload and update products in Woocommerce, but am getting a blank page when I try to open products so can’t update anything. I need to make some changes asap.
In Woocommerce System Settings I have this message:-
Overrides (WooCommerce):
Newsmag/woocommerce/archive-product.php version – is out of date. The core version is 2.0.0,
Newsmag/woocommerce/single-product.php version – is out of date. The core version is 1.6.4
Could this be something to do with it?

The td_post_video key contains an array, the update should be done like this:
$tmp_meta[‘td_video’] = ‘http://youtube.com/xxx’;
update_post_meta($post_id, ‘td_post_video’, $tmp_meta);
or
add_post_meta($post_id, ‘td_post_video’, $tmp_meta, TRUE);

For example this line

The “name” – i’ve changed 80×60 with 80×80 when i have updated the settings. It seems that if you change 80×60 with 80×80 it doesn’t work. In the previous theme it was working. Anyway thank you for your support.

Everything is up to date. The thumbnails on main page are at 90×90 but this morning i noticed that now if i add an new post it shows me on main page thumbnails at 300×300.. I checked up everything and i can’t find the problem.
This happened after i updated the theme to the latest version.

Newspaper 6 is pretty amazing work. I had Newsmag and it was good, I was hard on you with the botched updates and other things that made no sense at all.
You guys have really impressed me with Newspaper and your willingness to help your users with code modifications.
More specifically I love style 11. It is just perfect for me.
Sure everything is not PERFECT, but it is pretty darn closed. If fact nothing comes close to Newspaper 6 for me. Seems years ahead of the competition.

What about the update script and bad code in the DB as mentioned above? How is FTP gonna trouble shoot that? You need the sql of the DB

Newspaper 6 is practically a new theme, the whole code was rewritten, reviewed and refactored. Lots of new features have been added, new grid system, new design, options and so on. I suppose you would want to use new version’s features/blocks/modules. We have added within theme’s panel an update script which when run will import the previous version settings, but unfortunately you will have to adjust the custom css to work in latest version, sorry!
We will try to provide security updates for a while, but I suggest to update to the latest version and always use the latest version.

I installed wordpress into another directory doing a clean install and uploaded 6.4 template, then installed the travel demo settings and voila it worked perfectly. No issues with wp-config, htaccess etc etc.. No server issues whatsoever..
Turns out the problem is with the script to update template from 4.3 to 6.4. Old settings in the DB?
wp options ID 41,42 (template, stylesheet) shows value of Newspaper, yet in the new DB with clean install it shows Newspaper 6.4, if I edit the old name to Newspaper 6.4 the theme breaks.
So how do we fix this? I am not skilled enough to prune out old template code…. What table, field in the DB could use a clean up?
Also..With the clean install, the WP Site URL and Home URL are a match. Currently it is not a match in the site that I’m trying to fix. https, and http are the values… although in the DB the values are both http, so where is that bogus code hiding?
