Hello, I know you are not the developers of Visual Composer but just integrated it, but I hope it is also in your own interest to help solving this bug. I cannot contact the developer because I have it only bought in package with Newspaper.
VC is taking out paragraphs in text blocks at each page update, when the mentioned TinyMCEAdvanced option is enabled. I created a short screencast to illustrate the issue:
https://app.box.com/s/nzdgx7p1hb2wfbbnbsgr7z6720doxz9a
Thanks for the great theme, now I just hope that I can use VC properly soon.
Sofian
Hello,
I updated to Newspaper 6, and I get a blank screen when I go to my website.
Looks like this has changed with the new update. Where can I adjust this setting now?

Hello Lucian,
I have updated and cleared the cache but still see this warning in logs. Could you please check once?
I have worked with numerous themes and foundries where major updates change core features. Even things like canvas, and others have had this same issue. And of course tagdiv is one of the few foundries that evolves theme based on cluent feature requests. So, if they add 10 features, obviously the core files have to change to support the new functionality. So, a trade off.
Thats a drag. Even if you dont use a child theme you need to update those files or else lose your customizations.
I don’t recall any other theme where I would have to re do all the work. Wish there was an easier way to reapply the custom edits
There isn’t much point. It’s generally a dumb idea. Main reason to use one is to make “alternate” versions of a theme based on the parent.
I don’t believe in them, and stopped using them years ago. But it’s a “standard” practice with WordPress.
For our network, we edit the main files and keep track of the files and the edits; then re-apply to major theme updates as needed.
Other downside to child theme is that it’s a CSS redirect.
Others will *strongly* disagree with me, but I personally don’t use child themes for exactly the issue you just ran into. 🙂
We dont know how bud the images are back and we did notting to the site, but ist the seccond time it happend after an theme update. The firste time we endid up remaking the homepage (we have a back-up tool for the page. And that worked
Sorry, but how you update the theme?
Thanks
Hi,
That part doesn’t refer to the disqus plugin but it’s possible to interfere with it.
I’ll add this on our todo list for further testing and if we find something wrong in this regard we will fix this in the next theme updates.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks for the message!
Hi,
We’re sorry to hear that you had issue with our theme. We make a lot of tests on each update before releasing it, unfortunately it’s impossible to replicate all conditions. There are many servers and each come with different settings.
On most cases the layout issues are caused by cache or cdn, it may still deliver an old version for some of the theme files(ex. style.css). The demos download a few images from our servers, this process should run smooth but in some rare cases the connection it too slow and results in a connection timeout. Try to install it again or try installing another demo, see if there’s a difference in behavior. Let me know how it goes.
We’re looking for an alternative to this.
If the above solutions are not working please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com , paste a link to this conversation and provide wp-admin access so we can take a look.
Thank you!
Hi
Thanks for reporting this, we will update the documentation as soon as possible. Meanwhile you can follow this links:
-ad under the main menu: http://screencast.com/t/ccxDjge2J1
-ad before the footer: http://screencast.com/t/CZL50u0Kxu
And add this custom css in theme panel custom css:
.td-container-border:before {
position: absolute;
bottom: 0px;
left: 0px;
display: block;
content: '';
height: 100%;
width: 1px;
box-sizing: border-box;
-moz-box-sizing: border-box;
-webkit-box-sizing: border-box;
background-color: #e6e6e6;
z-index: 0;
}
The result should be like here: http://screencast.com/t/IpHxiMYn
Thanks!
Thanks Emil for update!
When can we except it to be fixed? Maybe you can tell me approximate date?
Thanks!
Hi
Please check our update guide here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/ and make sure you backup you current theme/WordPress install and database: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
Let us know if you still need assistance on this.
Thanks!
Hi
We updated our demo today and the new grids can be found here:
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/big-grid-1/ – http://screencast.com/t/cL9qZcTqYYB
@doucare1971
Also they can be fond in Visual Composer here: http://screencast.com/t/adqTVDHWV and make sure you enable them from VC settings: http://screencast.com/t/zCi3pk5b5h4
Thanks!
Hi
Check the change log and if the file that you’re using in child theme appear as modified you should update it, because otherwise this could cause issues, so it’s best to also update those files.
Thanks!
Hi
That happens because the setting you currently use has been changed in the latest update. It’s enough to go to theme panel >categories and set the category template: http://screencast.com/t/JmI2zZx8xoV make sure you clear the cache, purge cdn file if you’re using and test again.
Thanks!
Hi
I’ve added this issue on our list and we will try to fix in the next theme update, meanwhile you can try this custom css in theme panel > custom css:
.td-header-style-8 .td-header-sp-logo img, .td-header-style-8 .td-header-sp-logo a {
z-index: 1;
}
.td-header-style-8 .td-header-top-menu-full {
z-index: 0 !important;
}
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!
Hi,
1. You have to edit the page and delete the News Ticker block – http://screencast.com/t/ewQoe7ceoZM3 – http://screencast.com/t/Y79dSTDcOJ
2. Try to update the permalinks again (just save the settings) and see if the issue is still there. If this doesn’t work disable all plugins except for Visual Composer, update the permalinks and see if the issue is still there.
Thank you!
Hi,
Please update the theme to the latest version, clear the cache/cdn (if you use any) and check again.
Thank you!
Hello Any Update?
Hi,
I’m very sorry for this. We had a lot of problems with the update from V4 -> V6 because it’s basically a new theme that we release for free to our existing customers. Can you connect via ftp? go via ftp in /wp-content/plugins and delete the td-social-counter . Or via wp-admin disable the plugin first and an option to delete it will appear. After you remove the social counter you can install the new version via the theme panel and most of the stuff should start to run normally. also please read this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Hi
Please try to update the them at the current version (2.1) available on themeforest, then test again. If still doesn’t work make sure you also test this by deactivate all plugins except VC.
Let me know how it goes and if the problem doesn’t solve please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com with login details and we will inspect this issue, also include a link to this topic so we know who you are.
Thanks!
