Hi,
Did you used default page template in version 4? We changed the page templates in version 6, please try to use pagebuilder with title – http://screencast.com/t/uST39hilk the default sidebar should be added automatically. Please try this on a page and see if works. You can check this solution for default template – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/joke-no-sidebar-with-visual/#post-53451
Also if you can use default page template and add Widgetised Sidebar block using Visual Composer to display your sidebar – http://screencast.com/t/MToOqSRhAkgS
Please provide more details if this doesn’t help, also a link so we can take a look.
Thanks!
Be sure to regenerate your hash keys also!
Visual Composer is a memory hog; no doubt about it.
With Newsmag the last version of VC crashed our server (processes went from .06 to 52, with 8 XEON processors and 32GB ECC RAM); we had to use the beta “SHIM” workaround that Radu came up with.
Basic solutions are:
a) make sure you have at least 128MB allocated for php, and have that in the wp-config.php
b) limit number of queries (e.g., have a 10 most recent list in sidebars, not five queries of latest 2 items from 5 categories); consider disabling the “related posts” element; don’t use mega-menu
c) if you have a LOT of posts added daily, image processing is an ‘expensive’ use of CPU, so consider pre-planning your modules to limit number of image thumbs being built per story, ensure you have a high compression level set and pre-optimize the heck out of what you upload – don’t upload a 767kb file when it could be 45kb at outset for example
d) consider turning off the stupid comment counters (ahem); who cares how many comments a story has, really? That’s a huge amount of queries going on all over the place.
e) optimize the heck out of your site (some of my suggestions are in the stick for site optimization, including adding the memory item in wp-config.php and removing all the comments in wp-config.php — all that crap in there getting loaded over and over)
Stuff like that can set a good baseline to watch the system and see if it chokes. In other words start SIMPLE as possible with everything off, then build up to meet your system capability — if it just dies no matter what, go back to V4; and wait for version of SHIM beta from Radu which works with NP6 (basically this lets you have a homepage with most of the neato modules, but without some of the more dramatic options of VC). I’m running the shim beta with Newsmag on 3 sites now, and zero issues.
Not sure any of that helps … but food for thought …
Did you increase the default memory in your wp-config.php file ?
You MUST change that from the default 40MB to at least 96MB, pref. 128MB and ideally 256MB to use Visual Composer.
hi guys,
I been having problems with one of my sites, site gives errors all the time “error database connection” and sometimes “503 errors” when i go to server I see tons of php processes, when i kill them they come back. I uninstalled visual composer and put an older version, helped a bit but there is still same problem.
http://pasteboard.co/1urKqhOh.png
http://pasteboard.co/
I had to upgrade to level 3 goddady and site barely functions, this is newspaper 6 but problem where before upgrade as well.
I wrote to wpbackery and they say this:
Hi salomon,
The issue is because there is an inbuilt version of Visual Composer (or the related code) present in your theme which is overriding the standalone plugin version and hence causing the issue. You will have to get rid of it. I would advise you to do so with the help of theme author, otherwise you might loose the extra elements added by him. Once this is done, you can install the standalone plugin and it will work fine. Kindly check.
Thank you,
Please help!
Hi,
Did you tried to create your button in a page using Visual Composer? As I have tested this and it works fine – http://screencast.com/t/GpgdqGd4 – http://screencast.com/t/tSoSP3ySz4FI
You can also to copy the shortcode if you want to use it in post content – http://screencast.com/t/n7BOW4X3yp21
Thanks!

Hi,
I suggested to check the Visual Composer version as you use an old version – http://screencast.com/t/S5dHRwyIsD as the theme was not tested with old versions of Visual Composer and may appear some issues(this is also for future updates recommandation).
Also about slider issue please check how you filter the first slider as if you don’t have articles on that specific category or tag it will not be displayed. So please check slide settings and check how you filter posts.
I can see that not all sliders are not displayed, as you can see the slider with title Rumored appears – http://screencast.com/t/LR6B7ZP6
Thanks!
Hi
I think you refer at Royal Slider plugin, and in that case we can say for sure how will work, because we didn’t make any test, the plugin may have some issues. You can try deactivate all plugins except from Visual Composer and see how the site will work, if the problem is still there please provide a link and more detail.
Thanks.
Hi,
Please try this also without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer active, clear cache and purge your files if you use CDN and see if you have the same issue with infinite load. Let me know!
Thanks!
HI
it’s a “sticky” post at top of the forum(s); so you should be able to find it there as long as you’re on “page one” of each forum. It works fine with this version of theme as most of it’s related to WP optimization and not the “theme” itself, aside from hiding the visual composer code on posts, which I guess would be related to theme. One bit of the code for functions.php is to hide Yoast bar; another is for putting up a “quit it!” message for folks trying to guess your password (great to use with my suggested plugin ‘limit login attempts’); and of course the compression setting for WP from 90 to 50 should be mandatory (some folks like 60, but if you still get warnings about your images could be more compressed, try something like 45).
The htaccess optimzations are mostly intended for apache based servers (most common); and so that stuff is also included in the speed up guide from TagDiv in the docs, as that also applies to all WP installs – you need to have caching/TTL settings.
Anyway – hope that helped 🙂
Hi,
Please make sure that you have updated the theme properly using this guide – forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ Also make sure that you use the latest version of Visual Composer, activate it from here – http://screencast.com/t/sICGwGTQXQTh and check the version – http://screencast.com/t/pSDK3ooFurWV If you need to update the Visual Composer plugin, please remove the old plugin and update the latest version.
Thanks!
I have upgraded version 4 to version 6 on my local server which mostly went well using the upgrade documentation.
After edits and cleaning up I then went through the steps of deleting the old v4 theme, then adding the new v6 theme. Deleting the old plugins and adding the new ones. Activating the theme and running the migration script.
Looked at the site and it was smashed. I then deleted the site, migrated the local site using BackupBuddy (1.3GB) which is working and setup on the live server with a new database and all. The site is again smashed when I reviewed it?
This link shows how it looks on the live server and from the local server: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/268903/Site-Upgrade-Failure.pdf
I noticed the visual composer is not showing on the admin pages or posts. The code is also not translating on the site. I can only use the themes built in templates.
I then restored some function by going back to v4 and the old Visual Composer 4.4.4 which still doesn’t show on the admin side?
Could this be a server and or Cloudflare caching issue?
How am I going to get the site working on this account?
Regards
Peter
Hi,
Please make sure that you update also Visual Composer plugin to the latest version provide with the theme – http://screencast.com/t/afShRHaM6VHE please remove the old version before update. Also please provide more details about your issue. What blocks slides you use on homepage? A backend screenshot will help.
Thanks!
Hi,
I was using ” Text with title block” of Visual Composer for most of my posts. But after updating the theme to new 6.1 version all my “text with title block” posts have been replaced with normal “text block” of VC because of which all my posts are not showing like they used to before refer:
when i checked i noticed that there was option of title style in previous ” text with title box” of VC but in new one there is no option for that the previous code was like; ” [vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text][td_text_with_title custom_title=”PROS:” header_color=”#81d742″ title_style=”td_title_style_1“]”
but the new one is; ” [vc_column width="1/2"][td_block_text_with_title custom_title=”PROS:” header_text_color=”#ffffff” header_color=”#81d742″][/td_block_text_with_title][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"]”
loss of style option is not the problem but how can i get my posts back to normal like they were before ?
is there a way to restore or integrate the older “text with title block ” with new theme.
Hi,
The css issue may be caused by a plugin, try to disable all plugins except for Visual Composer and Bbpress and see if the issue is still there.
If you use a cdn or external cache disable it while testing.
If you use the child-theme switch to the main theme and see if the css is there.
Let me know if you find something.
Thank you!
Hi,
Do you have any custom modifications to the code? As I have inspected this issue and it should not look like that – http://screencast.com/t/GvTkXTMWl3B it should be like this – http://screencast.com/t/p1D5FrzwtiRP
Please make sure that you use the latest version of the Social Counter plugin, activate it from here – http://screencast.com/t/fbtak2Eul and check the version – http://screencast.com/t/aa65c4EnBk If you need to update you can find it in the /plugins from files that you have downloaded from themeforest.
Also you can check this only with Visual Composer and Social Counter plugins active(deactivate other plugins), clear cache and see if you still have this issue.
Thanks!
Hi,
I believed that you refer to this block that it is added using Visual Composer plugin – http://screencast.com/t/hzPx3lmW Glad that you solved this. We have changed page templates so for some pages you will need to change to the template that you need to use. Sorry for inconvenience!
Thanks!
@Alin [tagDiv]:
Hi,
As suggested by you i tried W3 Super Cache & it really gave better results than W3 Total cache.
Yes the menu problem is solved and you can not see it because i have updated the theme to 6.1 version, but now i am having another problem.
My Posts heading are not displaying like they used to display before, i was using the “Text with Title Block” of Visual Composer for Posts but now after update all the posts are not using it. Please refer to this image for review : http://oi57.tinypic.com/2rp8uw8.jpg
Hi,
We know about this error it will be fixed as soon as possible. Anyway this error doesn’t affect how Big grid is displayed in frontpage. Please make sure that you have disable css minifications and try only with Visual Composer active, you should not have this issue with 6.1 version of the theme. If you use child theme try also with the main theme and see if it works.
If you still have this issue please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-access so we can take a look and also paste a link to this topic so we can know who you are.
Thanks!

Hello tagDiv-Team,
Thank you for the awesome new update! Really enjoying it.
There is though one problem I ran into: The element “Big Grid 8” from visual composer doesn’t fully resize the images, despite regenerating all thumbnails as you describe in your documentation.
Guess it’s also important to mention that I went into the row settings, where the “Big Grid 8” is, and changed it to “Stretch row and content (no paddings)”.
Maybe it’s because of the stretching?
Anyway, it would be awesome if you could help me out with that, since I really would like it to be stretched and with no paddings.
Thank you in advance with warm regards,
Mr. Arias
P.S. By the way, here is the website I’m talking about: http://www.toplifetips.org. Please see it for yourself.
P.S.S. If it is because of the stretching, is there an alternative solution?
I’ve got 25,000 pages with no problem; so something funky going on obviously!
If you’re using the visual editor it may stay on one line, if you’re using the text editor it should wrap; it’s a function of WordPress.
You may need to clear all your caches on server; and reinstall the theme, making sure you upload via FTP and your FTP software set to properly encode text and binary files; turn off all plugins except visual composer, etc. to debug your issue.
Without a link those of use who offer to help on forum can’t be of any help.
But tagdiv support back on Monday 🙂
1) try disabling all plugins except visual composer
2) don’t use child theme; activate main theme
3) turn off/clear caching if using before doing anything; if using caching turn off all minification settings
4) turn off mod_pagespeed if using to clear caching
5) if using CDN server; you need to “retire/refresh” cache
6) if installing via FTP, make sure your FTP software set to automatically upload files properly (e.g., as text or binary depending on type of file)
7) make sure you have enough memory allocated; you may need to edit your wp-config.php file in your root WP folder to increase default memory from 40MB to at least 96MB (128MB recommended)
https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP
TRY #7 FIRST 🙂
Hi,
I just made a test the view counter works with W3 TC. Make sure the settings are configured like this – http://screencast.com/t/zzi5SNkl
Disable all plugins except for Visual Composer and W3 TC and see if the issue is still there, this issue may be caused by a plugin conflict.
Thank you, Emil G.
Hi,
We use xampp installs for testing, we didn’t tested other tools so i cannot recommend you something else.
First backup the site files and database, in case something goes wrong you just use the backup to restore the site. Usually c-panel comes with an option for this, or you could do this manually – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
You can’t keep the old theme in the same folder, you either delete it an install the new one or move it to another location.
In v6.1 we fixed some of the issues which were reported on v6.0:
[ Version 6.1 ]
- improvement: added global colour for block headers in General theme colors section
- improvement: now you can change the fonts on Lists in post content from Theme panel
- improvement: added .screen-reader-text class for better usability
- improvement: visual composer updated to the latest version
- improvement: better documentation + first video tutorials
- fix: UI improvements, key images now have a specified height, this prevents repaints and it makes the page appear that it loads faster
- fix: unique articles work now as expected
- fix: better review import from version 4
- fix: speed booster 4.1 works better now + buddyPress fix
- fix: big grids on iOS where missing titles until touch
- fix: block 20 css fix + speed booster
- fix: content bottom and top content ads css fix for safari, firefox and IE
- fix: various css fixes
- fix: social counter instagram
- fix: main menu z-index
- fix: missing Ajax filter option for IOS slider
- fix: visual composer single image block alignment issues
- fix: space issue when turn off the top menu on header style 12
- fix: the ajax dropdown filter sometimes disappeared when the mouse was moved down to select ca category
- fix: ajax filter - was deselecting all the selected filters from the page on click
- fix: better alignment on reviews
We may consider releasing beta versions in the future, thanks for your suggestion.
Thank you!
