Hi there,

I have uploaded Newsmag 3.3.1 to my site, and activated it, but when I do my home page content disappears, although the content on other pages is still there. I have gone back to 3.0 in the meantime, but was hoping you could suggest a reason as to why this might be happening. My site is http://www.expatessentials.net

Thanks for your help.
Mark

Sorry, I should have also added that the same problem occurs with 3.3

Hello markangus,

I have checked your website and I did not saw any problems with your content on your Homepage. It seems to work as properly, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/0AAut1Cl You have to update your theme via FTP way because this is the surest method in this regard according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi Catalin,

Thanks for your reply.

As I mentioned, my Home page is currently functioning correctly because I have gone back to version 3.0, and this is why it was displaying properly when you visited. I have been able to upload versions 3.3 and 3.3.1 to WordPress; however, when I activate them, this is when my Home page doesn’t display. Would you therefore suggest that updating the theme via PHP will fix this?

Thanks a lot,
Mark

Hello markangus,

You should re-install the latest version of the theme via FTP way, use only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins. I suggest you install the theme again via this way because this is the surest method in this regard. A bad theme installing can cause this type of issues and that’s why it is very important to make a new fresh install from scratch and check the results.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the message!

Dear Catalin,

Thank you for the reply. I followed all the steps you outlined in your
previous reply, but without success.

I installed version 3.3.1 of the theme via ftp. I also deactivated all my
current plug ins to find if there are any clashes. However. the same
problem remains — my front page does not show when version 3.3.1 is
installed. Version 3.0 works fine, but when using 3.0 I am not able to edit
pages with Visual Composer.

I would be grateful for your assistance, as this is proving to be quite a
problem.

Thanks for your help,
Mark

Make sure you update Visual Composer also; delete old plugin folder for VC, upload new one.

Resave permalinks.

Clear transients with WP-optimize plugin.

Also, sometimes simply resaving your home page ‘page’ without any changes will reset it.

Hi Catalin,

I have reinstalled 3.3.1 using FTP, and have deactivated all plug ins to see if there is any clash. I have also tried the tips suggested by Chris S above, in that I have cleared transients using WP Optimize and have re-saved the Home page.

This doesn’t seem to have helped; the Home Page is not visible and Visual Composer is not accessible. If you can provide some advice it would be much appreciated, as this is becoming quite urgent.

Thanks a lot,
Mark

Hi Chris,

I appreciate your input.

I don’t know how to update Visual Composer separately, rather than as part of the theme. I’d appreciate your advice in this respect.

Cheers,
Mark

Best to update via FTP.

use Feedzilla, log into website; delete old plugin folder in /wp-content/plugins/

upload new unzipped VC folder.

Seriously — only way to avoid pain and suffering !

Chris, much appreciated again.

At the risk of sounding incredibly dim, is this the folder marked vc_templates within the Newsmag theme folder?

I’ve never had this issue before, so this is all rather new to me.

Cheers again.
Mark
