I’m looking for a way to edit the format of posts. I want to add a sidebar that goes across the top of the page before the story, so that I can put an ad there.

Unfortunately our theme does not provide such a feature as you require. You can place a header ad using our theme ad system like so: https://forum.tagdiv.com/ads-adsense-overview/
