Hi,

If you are using a standard demos, without cloud templates, the posts can inherit the category sidebar -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/sidebars-tutorial/ if you are using cloud templates, then you can do a single post template with specific sidebar for each category posts and set it individual on posts.

Thank you!

I’ve just had a similar query, the default templates automatically display the specific sidebar relative to their category as define in the theme panel, with cloud templates unless you manually create a template for each category and set it in the post editor settings whilst composing each individual post then it will always display the sidebar that is set out within the cloud template i.e its not dynamic.

Is there no way to create a custom single post template and then set the sidebar to obey the sidebar defined in the theme panel for the specific category the article belongs to?? I would expect this to be capable as most people will want to define custom templates but also be able to vary the sidebar content relative to the single posts main category?

After much reading I can’t believe that Cloud Templates for single posts can’t support dynamic sidebars in the way Standard Templates can. This means editors would need to stipulate a custom cloud template for every article they produce.

My workaround has been to define a custom module and block using the API Plugin which I can use in TD Composer to drop in a dynamic sidebar. The module I’ve added simply places <?php get_sidebar(”);> as a td composer block.

Not being able to have dynamic sidebar content on custom cloud templates is a big oversight in my opinion…

Hi,

Unfortunately for the moment the single post templates from tagDiv Cloud Library can not inherit the sidebar from the parent category as the standard templates, sorry for the inconvenience! maybe this option will be add in the coming updates.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi Calin, a single’s posts ability to display ‘related content’ and ‘related sidebars’ is a crucial end user engagement factor for us. Bounce rates and user drops offs are massively effected by the ‘related’ information we are able to show to an end user and sidebars are an integral part of this on all articles.

Cloud templates should also follow the same behaviour as sidebars defined for standard templates in my opinion. This wouldn’t be an issue if we could stipulate specific single post templates per category but this is not an option.

If this could be added to future releases it would be a great help, all it would require is a cloud template block/shortcode to include the category specific sidebar instead of just a block/shortcode for ‘Widgetised Sidebar’ whereby we have to choose which sidebar to display.

Thanks
Matt
