This is the first time I am working with WordPress and the Newspaper theme.
I have been unable to get anywhere with trying to install / setup Slider Revolution.
I am so lost and frustrated!!!
Is “create gallery link” part of the Slider revolution that the theme comes packaged with?

The gallery is not part of slider revolution. The gallery is part of the theme and is not dependent on the plugin. In order to get the gallery working you can follow this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/gallery-2/

Hi,
Please follow the steps in the tutorial as the options to create a gallery is a wordpress feature. We simply added our own gallery in the wordpress gallery section.
You can create the gallery on a post so it will not work if you are not inside a post. When editing a post, click the add media button and the gallery option should be there.
