Our website (tualatinlife.com) got hacked several weeks ago. We solved this problem, including updating theme version (we were several versions behind), changing passwords (ftp, users, etc.), updating all plugins, updated WP to current version, and updated PHP.
I also increased PHP execution time to “120” and PHP Max Input Vars to “2000,” as suggested in an earlier post.
The problem I’m having is anytime I change anything within the Newspaper Theme Panel, I click “Save Settings” and I get an endless spinning squares icon, but changes never take effect. Initially, I was only trying to change various “ad” positions, but I now realize that I can’t save ANY settings within the theme panel! (See screenshot)
Please help!
Thanks for the comment, J. Burton. Glad to hear I’m not the only one. We have another website that we use the same theme. We upgraded that website as well (both in the same Godaddy hosting account). The second site works fine. If you want to compare notes, you can reach me at mike.antonelli(at)gmail.com – Thanks!
Hello,
So, if the settings are not saved, please check the console https://i.imgur.com/0ex2unk.png and check the suggestion from here https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/newspaper-theme-panel-settings-are-not-being-saved/ -> https://community.godaddy.com/s/question/0D58W00007ggvUDSAY/403-forbidden-error-not-sure-why
Thank you!
Hello, I wanted to report back with the solution to my problem. The reason for not being able to save settings was a newly installed security firewall. The solution was as simple as adding my IP Address to the firewall. I’m with Godaddy and the firewall was added as part of their Sucuri security package. You can find instructions on how to add your IP address to the firewall here: https://www.godaddy.com/help/allow-or-block-website-access-27422 – If you’re with another host, the concept should be the same.
