On WPEngine hosting the theme blocks of their CDN (MAX CDN).
If we change the theme from Newspaper to any other the CDN starts working fine.
The CDN problem remains even if all the plugins are removed.
The WPEengine support has tried all it could. Now they seek help from you guys (Theme developers)

I can’t say for sure what cdn settings WPEngine uses. We only recommend these settings: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/
We tested cloudflare only. I cannot say for sure about maxcdn though. sorry
