Categories have a general category setting that will affect each category in particular except if the particular category has different options set to it and is not left on default. You can find the general category settings here: https://www.screencast.com/t/kNdH8whO
Pages on the other hand do not have global settings as they can be created in the page builder. Each page is unique and cannot grab settings from the other ones except the page template used: https://forum.tagdiv.com/page-templates-2/

Sorry but categories cannot be treated as pages so you cannot customize the category content as you would pages. Visual composer does not have any such option. Categories are loops of the posts found in that category, not a custom page to show different content. It is not a page but rather an archive, a taxonomy for posts.
