Hi
I’ve taken on job updating an existing WP ‘magazine’ site with five years of existing posts, and decided to use the Newspaper theme to update the site.
I’ve created cloud templates to use for posts as there are several different areas in the site and I wish for them to look different.
Unfortunately I’ve discovered neither the Co-Authors or Guest Authors plugins appear to work anymore. The posts’ authorships default to a user admin when viewed on a category page. I’ve already scoured through the forums here, and it seems to be a flaw in the theme design where these PIs are incompatible with cloud-based templates.
There are literally thousands of posts with author names attributed to Guest Authors, as opposed to Users. To remove a guest author from a post, and replace with a User would have to be done manually on each individual post.
It seems very odd that a ‘Newspaper’ theme can not handle these plugins, or offer any solutions to this problem.
What would the TagDiv developers recommend I do?
Cheers
Rob
Hi,
Unfortunately the single post templates from tagDiv Cloud Library was not tested with this plugins, therefore we can not way for sure if those will work properly with theme or not, support policy -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/support-policy-2/
This can be achieve only with custom work -> https://tagdiv.com/premium-customization-services/
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
For this you’ll need to make an request and our theme for custom service will provide you some more details about this service.
For the moment we do not know if this plugin will be or not add on our list of supported/tested plugins, for the moment those are the only tested plugins.

Thank you!
Same problem here and it worked perfectly before X update.
I’ve talked with the GUEST AUTHOR plugin guy and it’s really open to collaborate in having the plugin working with Newspaper X.
He asked me to investigate about what function you use for call the author cause in the template you are not using the standard wordpress function.
There’s a way for him to talk directly to you and start this collaboration?
Let me know!
Hi Mercurial,
Yes, they can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and we can start there a conversation for a collaboration.
Thank you!
Hi @Mercurial and @RobGas – I’m also in need of this feature.
I see it’s been about 4 months since this original post and I was just checking in to see if anyone had made any progress with the GUEST AUTHOR plugin?
My site is going to be 99% guest posts so I’m motivated to find a practical + efficient solution.
Cheers!
I’ve tried to make this things work by talking with the theme and the plugin guys, but i don’t know if they find a solution cause i was in a rush and had to switch off the guest author plugin because i had a lot of problem with it.
I’ve solved creating all the roles manually and in the case the Author is not uploading the post by himself the Admin can upload it for him and assign to the proper Author using the default wordpress role using the native author box.
Hope this help.

Mercurial.
Hi Dale-R7,
If you are using standard post style and not cloud templates, then you can use our guide for Co-Authors Plus plugin from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/adding-multiple-authors-articles/
Please note that it will not work on cloud templates.
Hope this will help you!
Thank you!
Hi @Calin – unfortunately I’m using the Cloud Templates 🙁
@Mercurial – is this something that you might still be interested in implementing? I might reach out to the plugin developer to see if I have any luck…
Already talked with the developer about this.She’s so collaborative and told me that was going to fix this issue, but i had to act really fast cause i have around 70k unique visitors per day and everything was broken after the update to X and the conflict with Guest Author .At the moment i don’t need it anymore cause i’ve asked to all my authors to setup an account last winter.
I am trying to follow the guide, for the latest version of Newspaper theme.
In step 2 – where can I find these template files?
I have looked in the main Themes folder and I only find 2 files there:
– single.php
– loop-single.php
And these files does not have the functions described.
Please help.
Thank you. I have now completed the tutorial and added a second author to a post. But the second author is not displayed on the page. What am I missing?
<div class="td-module-meta-info">
<?php echo td_get_post_coauthors();?>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_date(false, false);?>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_views();?>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_comments();?>
</div>
