Comments disappear

Hello,

I have the problem with the comments. When allow comments is “off” on the post all previously submitted comments with the submit form disappear. I would like that only the comment form should disappear and old comment should be on the page/post. The same way as default theme (Twenty ten, thirteen and fourteen) works. I also discovered when “Setting -> Discussion -> Other comment setting -> Automatically close comments on articles older than 14 days” is “on” all comments disappear as well on all posts.

Hi,

Regarding the comments section when the allow comments option is disabled, you could try to find a plugin that dose that, the theme doesn’t have an option for that.
About the “Automatically close comments on articles older than 14 days” option note that this will disable comments for posts older than 14 days so if an post it’s posted by more than 14 days the comments will be disabled. Please make sure that you have recent posts or change the value from 14 to 30 days. I have also tested this and works fine.

Thanks

Thank you for your respond, but may be you can give me the instructions how can I close the comments and keep all old comments of the post published. I tried to modify comments.php, but looks like that I need to modify other files as well (single.php?). May be you can write some kind of hotfix for this problem.

All I want to remove comment form and leave all comments when

1. allow comment is not ticked

2. the time expired for example after 2 weeks (Automatically close comments on articles older then 14 days is ticked).

Thank you.

Hi,

1. You could also use a plugin like advanced custom fields then a condition which will show the “leave a reply” comment section only if you want it or not, you can read more about this method here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/function-to-hide-ads-and-function-to-show-author/#post-8993
If you don’t know how to achieve this and you don’t have basic php/html/css knowledge we recommend you to hire a developer or a freelancer from sites like: http://studio.envato.com/
Unfortunately for this you will need custom work and we cannot offer custom work at this time as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support.
We also have this on our todo list but as we have over 160 features requests and issues on this list we have to pick very carefully what we implement so if more people will ask for this we will do it.
2. That setting/feature comes from WordPress, you can try to find a solution for this online or try to find a plugin to do it, as I said before unfortunately we cannot offer custom work at this time.
Sorry about this!

Thanks for the message!
