I added a widget for convertkit form to the sidebar.
when I load my sight I can see the form briefly but then the about me covers it up.
How do I fix this.

I could take a look at that issue. Set the widget again in the sidebar and provide a link to the page or post where it should appear.
Ads are not difficult to use. The theme has ad spots in the theme panel

Ad codes can be entered in the spots you want and they will be displayed accordingly. You can use Adsense but other ad types should work as well

when you open the blog it is on the home page and you can see it flash for a second in the top of the sidebar and then it disappears.
