Creating a Scripture of the day post with an image, placed on side bar.

I have been spending many hours, lack of knowledge trying to create a scripture/image post for the sidebar that will only come from a folder name scripture. There are plugins that will do the job, but I want to be able to have control over the content and images, and not pull from someone else’s website.

This project name speaks for itself. Scripture of the day.

Placed on the sidebar, right-side. There is a plugin called; Post of the day. But the shortcode, it does not pull from the category created, called, “scripture”. I contacted the plugin creator, but his attempt failed, it ended up pulling from the wrong folder.

The question is how do I go about this in the newspaper theme environment?

Well, that really did not really answer my question, but when I took another looked at my question; frankly, I did a very poor job explaining what I was after. I went on and on about what the plugin would not do, all my problems. 🙂

I was just sharing my problems with the plug-in and what I wanted.

I could care less about the plugin and try to find a way to add a scripture of the day using the newspaper theme in, anyway I could. (div) Really it’s just an image and text, the problem came in that I wanted WordPress to post it for me every 24 hours. I was hoping the newspaper theme could do that?

But I did contact the person who created the plugin and he is helping. Right now it is under test mode. Day one, it worked great, it’s pulled from the correct folder. (scripture)
