I’ve been trying to create some custom side bars for my site. I have been trying to create them from the theme panel but nothing shows up when I go to Appearance/Widgets.

This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Hi Thank you for your response. I have done all you posted, and I still can’t get the side bar/s to show up in the widgets area.
Is there anything else I can do?

Are you maybe using special characters in your sidebars or language specific characters? This will cause WordPress to strip the sidebars of content: https://forum.tagdiv.com/sidebars-tutorial/
