Just updated a client from last version of Newspaper 6 to current version of Newspaper 7. Apparently I made the mistake of following the documentation and selected “2015” theme to delete Newspaper 6 and update to 7.
When I switched back to Newspaper 7, I now have an extra menu at the top of the page. I’ve tried modifying the various header options and menu options via the theme panel or customizer, but no luck.
Can someone tell me how to get rid of this extra menu?
Also, not sure if it’s related, but I’m seeing a duplicate site logo and duplicate search icon.
Deleting the Newspaper folder on my server and manually updating to 7.11 using ftp fixed this problem.
Although the theme still says it’s 6.6.4 in the theme panel in wordpress admin even though the other text, images, etc. say “7”. This is a very weird update process.

As I replied in the other topic, the issue is a caching issue. It does not seem to be the case anymore. As for visual composer, please update your plugin to version 4.11.2 by following this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Please also update your social counter plugin as well because the old version from newspaper 6 does not work in newspaper 7.

All In One WordPress Security was the culprit. Disabling that got Visual Composer working again.
