Hi,
Google News crawler isn’t scanning my website and is giving “Empty Article” error. Can you help me identify if this is related to theem?

Hello AzharNadeem,
Unfortunately, the theme does not have any such an option that allows you to set this option, sorry! THis functionality might be made through such a plugin but we do not have any recommended plugin in this regard, sorry!
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi @Chris
Thank you so much for the response. Google News sitemap contains relevant URLs and can be accessed https://www.sportscourant.com/news-sitemap.xml
In the crawl errors, i can see *empty article* error but page source has all the content there.
Also, Googlebot is seeing a blank page when Fetch as Google tool is used. My website is hosted on Godaddy Managed WordPress hosting and neither htaccess not robots.txt is blocking any resource.
Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I have fixed the errors in console by removing
1. Revcontent Widget code
2. Ad tags by snack-media
3. Article in-line ad
However, I am still having “empty article” error in Google News. Also, I am unable to “Fetch as Google” as it gives the temporarily unreachable error. However, I am not blocking anything in robots.txt or htaccess.

Hi,
As stated above, Googlebot is having issues crawling my website. When Fetch as Google tool is used, there is only a white page Googlebot can see. Interestingly, nothing is blocked on robots.txt and htaccess.
I may sound stupid saying this but it seems like this issue pertains to Newspaper theme. Switching themes partially resolves the problem and at least Googlebot can see some of the resources including post content. However, reactivating Newspaper theme results only in displaying a blank page to Googlebot. Screenshots are attached for reference.
Fetch with Newspaper 8.1.1 and Fetch with Metro News
Please give it serious consideration.

Hello zeeodesk,
You should provide your website URL so I can take a closer look at it. First of all, you should refer to the following topic here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/featured-images-not-showing-on-homepage/
Thanks.
We are not having this issue with our sites running TagDiv themes, and we have 10+ sites in Google News. However, we turn off stuff we don’t absolutely need, and are not running the mobile theme options, and we’re not using pagebuilders for posts, and not running external ad networks other than AdSense at this time.
That likely doesn’t help — just some feedback 🙂
Also worth reminding to those visiting thread in future: check your Google News sitemap — if all the data is there, Google should be able to get that data. Any error will also show in your GN sitemap in your search console account when you “test sitemap” — after you fix stuff, resubmit sitemap for Google News.

Hi mita,
I’m not sure I understood the question correctly. Why don’t we use or how not use any pagebuilder for posts?
Our theme actually uses a pagebuilder that applies to pages and templates, but not to create posts, only templates for them.
If this is not what you mean, please let me know!
Thank you!
