Today, after the last theme update (v. 12.6) the blog doesn’t work. After activating the “TagDiv Composer” plugin, everything is blank, it’s even imposible to enter the WP admin. Nothing loads on page. The only “solution” is to desactivate the “TagDiv Composer” (with FTP) but the theme doesn’t work.
What happened? Yesterday everything was working fine.
Any quick solution? While I’m already looking for a temporary or permanent alternative theme.

Hello all,
It looks that most of the users that had this problem were using an old php version. Please check the php version you have and give it a try with php 8 o 8.1 using those versions it should be working without problems.
In case that the problem persist with those php version then please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and please provide wp-admin and cPanel access. We’ll check it as soon as possible.
Thank you!
I sent an email to contact@tagdiv.com with information. I need to get back to the previous version of Newspaper since we are stuck on PHP Version 7.3.25.
Colin
How do you update the PHP version to 8 or 8.1? Is this done within the Tag Div theme panel somewhere? Thanks
Kevin
Hello,
The php version is provide by host. If needs you can contact the host to update the php version.
If you have access to cPanel you can try this guide: How to Update Your PHP Version in WordPress (the RIGHT Way)
For users that have Newspaper 7.4 or 8 and the problem persist, please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide temporary wp-admin access and cPanel or FTP (it is possible to be a different problem). We’ll check and try to fix it as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding!
Colin
let me rephrase that – How do we know, as users of the Tag Div Newspaper theme, that the version update must be supported by a certain PHP version – in this case 8.0 or higher, and, as it appears many were caught off guard? Do you announce that users must have a PHP version of “blank”?
thanks again
I updated by PHP to 8.1.23 at siteground, so I’m all set, than update to 12.6 version of your theme with no issues.
my question above was in reference to future updates of tag div theme.
Hi besthomegear, we have a theme requirements – https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ – https://i.imgur.com/cdGcGv4.png
Hi dnf67, if you have any kind of problems please let us know. Please contact us via email at cntact@tagdiv.coma and we’ll do may best to help.
Thnak you!
We Updated PHP to 8.1 at site ground, than updated Tag Div to 12.6 – worked for 3 days, then crashed all my mobile and desktop headers. that update is crap, let’s just call it what it is.
reverted back to the 12.5.1 update and now everything is working fine. you really need to patch the 12.6 update and re-release it after significant testing.
thanks
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
We have a few installs and everything is fine on those, but I think this depends on more factors, like hosts/server, extra plugins, settings and so on. Once that we identify the rot of the problem we’ll be able to resolve if is something from our update. Our developer are already checking the theme and soon it will be made a fix update.
Thank you!
Thanks and we’ll look for a follow up from tag dive that the fixes are captured in the next update
A real “tragedy”: layout… destroyed after updating to 12.6 (we use a child customization). We updated the php, carefully checked every parameter, disabled and reactivated the plugins but there was nothing to be done. In the end we fixed it with an old backup on the server (from mid-August), returning to 12.5.1 and obviously losing the activities implemented in the last month, but at this point we are waiting for a further update that will resolve this very serious problem!
Hi iegexpo, did you disable/enable the new options for inline and aggregate css from the theme panel? Because if there is an extra cache plugin or optimize plugin for css used it can create problems – https://i.imgur.com/s2qpatr.png (this was one of the problems that some users had after theme update to 12.6 and used extra plugins for css optimize).
Thank you!
