Excerpt

It’s a common use that the excerpt will be displayed on the article post before the featured image. Also the subtitle has to be over the article title, not below. All major online newspaper are handling this that way. How can I achieve this?
You should set this as a standard function.

I think you didn’t understand me well. I’m not talking about homepage. On the post itself I want to place the excerpt as intro above the featured image.

That is easily done with the cloud library plugin and tagDiv composer, post template can be design in many ways

I did now install this library. But I was not able to find one single post template that met my requirements.
Take a look at this post from The New York Times:

You can clearly see that the excerpt from the homepage is again below the title. That’s want I want to achieve. This should be not so difficult. There’s not one pre-made template where is it like this.

I will come back later to this. It’s easy to do this adding some code to the used template, but I don’t know more how to do this.

Now I’ve a thing which is much more important for me: how can I hide the featured image on smart list? If I publish a smart list I want of course have this on homepage, and, also of course, with an image. But when the user opens the smart list I don’t want to have this featured image above the smart list. That’s ugly and useless. How to solve this?

I think the easy solution would be to have an ‘excerpt’ element in the single post template cloud library editor besides the ‘subtitle’ element. This element is now missing from the set for some reason. If we had it, it would be easy to build a custom single post template with the excerpt under the featured image.
(It is true, on newspaper sites it is somewhat a standard feature to have the excerpt as a ‘lead’ before the main article text — not always, some editors think that is old fashioned, some think it is a must — it varies from newsroom to newsroom).
