Extend header and footer background color to span entire width of page

I currently have the header and footer background set to black and the page background set to white. The problem appears once the window size gets too larger and the menu no longer goes across the top of the page and the white from the page goes around the menu. Is there a way to have the header/footer menu background color span across the top of the page no matter how big the window is?

I am on version 7.0.1

Just in case anyone else runs into this. Looks like I accidentally set a background image and this made the site go into “Block Mode” https://forum.tagdiv.com/bg-settings/

Thank you for letting us know. I was looking for exactly this solution! I had removed all background images throughout the site, and my site was still in block mode. I had no idea I had to remove the background colour as well.
