Feature image best sizes?

Hi,

What would you say is the perfect feature image size I should tell my client to upload images as?. They’re worried about odd cropping (they aren’t the best photo takers for their stories), so I want to give them a good safe size to stick with and I’ll also tell them that they are cropped by the theme Centre Top as it says here.

Do I need to change the recommended sizes in the Media settings of WordPress too?

Thanks

Andy

As for the featured images, there is no recommended size. The bigger the size of the image, the better the quality will be. But you will need to find a size that does not become a big burden for your website as bigger images will mean larger amounts of space occupied on the server and higher loading times. Usually about 800×600 or 1920x1080px will do. You can use the tagDiv Composer and set your thumb sizes as you can see here: https://www.screencast.com/t/CJUsauI9KSd
Thank you!

Ah thanks Calin,
I ask cause client is querying about uploading portrait images as feature images which are obviously set to landscape. I’ll just advise them to take horizontal photos for feature images.

Hi,
Portrait images can also be used, but it takes a bit more work to adjust the images, on flex blocks can be done in layout tab -> https://i.imgur.com/7eawk1O.png and on post, you can edit the single post template with tagDiv Composer and you can replace the Single Post Featured Image with -> Single Post Bg Featured Image -> https://i.imgur.com/UWB2nKR.jpg
Thank you!
