Featured Image Custom Link URL?

Hello,

I’d like to have the featured image for Pages/Posts have an option where you can specify a custom URL for when the image is clicked. The default when you click on the featured image is that it opens a larger version of the image. I’ve seen old posts of people asking the same thing but I can’t seem to find the code to make this work.

I’m honestly surprised this isn’t a built in feature. When you click the featured image in the admin area to edit the image there is URL box there but it’s grayed out and you can’t type anything in it. Any suggestions of how to make this work with the Newspaper theme please?

My featured images will be ads that need to link to outside offers, etc.

Hi,

The lightbox can be disabled, but the featured image cannot have a custom link set. An option would be to use a post template that does not display the featured image on the post page (like style 5 or 12)

Set a featured image normally, and add the image with link you want in the post content. It should produce the result you want.
