Are there any plans to allow the use of native video (from Media Library) to be used instead of Featured Image when required?
Although YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook are supported the native option would be great, for news sites this is becoming crucially important.
There is a plugin – but it doesn’t work with the theme.
Has anyone else any ideas?

At the moment the only available options for the post featured video are these – https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
Additional options regarding this may be added in a future update, but we can not say if or when these will be implemented in the theme. Each update is meant to bring new features and improve the theme.
Maybe there are other plugins that you can try with this capability, or some other users here on the forum can share their solutions in this matter.

Tagdiv composer etc I’m sure is a step forward,qiuicker etc – but as a busy news site I haven’t got time to take risks with it – what I can’t believe is that still in Newspaper8, ‘native’ videos (from library) can’t be used as Featured ‘image’ in posts – this is essential now, all brands do it, the theme is great, I’ve loved it, but it is becoming out of date with ‘news’ websites.
Sadly I feel sure that at some point I’ll have to move to one that allows modern news, or get a developer to do what should be standard – the theme should be like the ‘National/Internartional’ titles in terms of content presentation – I fear the development may be in the wrong features.

We try to provide more features with each update, it is not easy for the developers to decide what has priority and what gets postponed for later updates. The list of suggestions and recommendations is forever increasing. I could not say when the options you mention will be made available, hopefully it will be taken in consideration at a given time.
