Functions.php code not used with mobile theme

Hello,

We have a small WooCommerce-based store on our website that uses your wonderful Newspaper theme. Due to the fact that PayPal does not natively support our local currency, a few snippets have been added to the child-theme’s functions.php file to add currency conversion to EUR. All this works perfectly on desktops.

However, when the website is loaded on a phone or through Chrome’s Responsive Web Design Tester extension, the option to pay with PayPal no longer appears on the checkout page.

Is it possible that these particular snippets mentioned above are for some reason not loaded on the mobile version? If so, what could we do to make them be used?

Thank you!

Hi,

That could be the case. If you are using the mobile theme plugin, try to deactivate it and test again. The same content from desktop should be displayed on mobile devices.

Thanks

Hi Simion,

Thanks for the suggestion! Disabling the mobile theme plugin did the trick.

Is there any downside to continuing using the website without it?

Hi,

The mobile theme is optional and meant to improve the performance of a website, by displaying a different variant. It comes with predefined templates for the homepage, posts, categories etc. It will not display pages built with composers, or that contain particular widgets or other complex elements. Adding content for the mobile pages is limited to the mobile editor at the moment

There will be no downside if you are not using the mobile plugin. The main theme is perfectly capable to display the best results on all devices.

Thanks
