Gallery in post with portrait (vertical) images

Hi,

Default crop is 696 x 385 for images in post gallery. As I upload a lot of portrait (vertical) images, I would like to have an option to show them in full size without crop, but of course a thumbnail should exist with 696px width (and different heights), to avoid slow page loading. How can I set this?
