Guide to upgrade from v5 to v6

Hi,

I saw that someone had problems with the upgrade.
I wanted to know step by step things to do to transfer the site from v5 to v6:

Currently I have about:

– 20 pages with sidebar
– Articles with sidebar
– Section forum made bbPress
– More than 200 categories with sidebar
– Header menu that refers to 12 categories
– Supercacher and other varius plug in installed

Hi,

Please update using this guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ make a full backup of your current installation and deactivate all plugins. After you update you will have to run the script it will import old settings from database(see docs). It may be an issue with widgets from sidebars, you will have to re-add them.

as regards pictures already optimized for newspaper 4 not to do any resizing?

After you update to the version6 please also regenerate your thumbnails – https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-the-theme-with-existing-content/

Hi,

Newspaper 6 uses different thumb sizes and for best results you have to regenerate all thumbs. The best approach would be to find out which one are used on your site, check the modules used on your pages and turn off the thumbs for ones you don’t use – http://screencast.com/t/GHdvy9rXcF1D – then use the plugin to regenerate them.

Try to do this at a time when the traffic is low on your server, or the alternative would be to place an “under maintenance” screen until you’re done.
