how to change the template without losing the history and posts

Changing the theme (if that is what you want to do) will not cause the posts to be lost, all the posts and pages are saved in the website database. But it is always recommended to make a full backup before making major changes to the website.

By history I don’t quite know what you are referring to exactly, some more details would be helpful. Let me know.
