How to show an old article in a block

We’re using Block3 on our front page to display 9 recent articles. See the section titled “POIMINNAT” on the right side at

http://vastavalkea.fi/

The sort order used in the block is “Latest”.

But what if we would like to raise a specific old article (an article that is, for example, two months old) back to the section? How could that be accomplished?

Thanks again!

Hello Vesa,

Unfortunately there is no option for that. You could try to use sticky posts, but our theme was built to ignore them. You can activate sticky posts by following this topic here https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/sticky-posts-2/ but it will need some further custom work to get it to work properly.

Thank you!

Hi Bogdan,

Ability to raise older posts, in one way or another, back to the front page is a very important function. I hope you will implement it.

One obvious way is to republish old artiles, but that of course loses all the comments and likes for the articles.

Thank you for considering this – and for any further help if possible.

Hello,

As an alternative, you can have older posts on your homepage, you can add a different block element and set the specific posts you want to display in that block by tag.(https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-tutorial/) Just tag your older posts you want to bring to your homepage and set the specific tag in block settings to filter by that tag. The only downside is you cannot have latest and older posts in the same block.

Thank you!
