How to update Newspaper theme?

Can anyone tell me how to update this theme because I get mail from ThemeForest that update is available but I can’t find an update of WordPress?

I have installed the Envator plug to update but no theme tab shows?

I don’t recommend the envato plugin — never works right for me.

I tired doing a manual update through WordPress, I deactivated the theme and uploaded the new zip, received this:

Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

Destination folder already exists. /home/financial/public_html/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/

Theme install failed.

What did I do wrong?

I usually upload via FTP, as the “decompress, delete, write new folder” process can “time out” on some systems if your settings for php are not set to run long enough.

Best way is to decompress the zip on your hard drive, then upload via FTP to the theme folder.

Seriously, it will save you broken themes, nightmares, and other pain and suffering in the long run!

Chris…I FTP’ed all the files as you suggested, overwriting the old files.

Never mind, I managed to fix it 🙂

I have installed this as always, however the theme refuses to activate. It keeps enabling the WordPress 2015 theme – anyone else having this problem?

Edit: I tried activating a different theme, and reactivating Newspaper and it worked.

For some reason it there was a glitch where on on install of the new files, it would refuse to enable Newspaper and instead would enable WP 2015 theme.

I would do as Chris suggested, use ftp and overwrite all files that way. worked for me

I was able to reinstall the theme, but just now realized all widgets content was deleted…
