I received an email with a link to update the newspaper theme. The link takes me to the full installation download. What is the correct way to update the theme without erasing important content?

Please keep in mind that always doing an update, we recommend doing a full backup for your data to be sure in this regard. For more references about backup, please check here -> https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
Also, please notice that all your settings from the panel are kept on your database and only your additional customizations if you have, (through the code of the theme) you will lose because these will be overwritten with the new update. We recommend updating your theme only via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard.
