Why not roll back to prior version while you get things sorted and read the documentation on what changed between the MAJOR version change going from v7 to v8?
That way you lose nothing.

Please go to your plugins section and deactivate the tagDiv composer. The website should display just like before. In some cases, Visual composer elements may not display properly when both editors are active. The newly introduced front-end page editor is activated by default when the theme is active
