My image is the correct ratio but in the homepage big grid, something is going wrong and there is extra empty space around it on the right side and on the bottom of the image. What is going on here? For more info: an image 25 KB and 400 × 286 works correctly, but this image is 106 KB and 400 × 300 and it’s getting those unsightly empty borders on 2 sides.

Please notice that our theme does not have any such a thumb for this image. Please check our Thumb Module from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/ Also, if you want to achieve good results. you should regenerate the images using the Force Regenerate plugin with Regenerate Thumbnails. Hi. Thank you. The links are helpful. I have GB library and added the plug-in. I am a little confused and need to clarify. I think we are having an issue because there is no upscaling in WP.
Should we only use image sizes that are seen in the Panel > Block Settings > Thumbs on Modules/Blocks list?
e.g.: 80×60, 100×70, 218×150, 265×198, 324×160, and so on?
I do not understand how to have an image that is not having blank space. I thought 4:3 would work fine because I read this article:

But my 400×300 image results in empty borders when in Big Grid 1, whereas 400×286 works fine. Why is that happening, and how do I prevent it?

Not all of the thumbs in our theme are 4:3 but nevertheless, you should not see broken thumbs. Please regenerate all your thumbs using the above guide mentioned and provide a link to your site if you still have trouble with the thumbs so we can inspect it and see what;s going on.
Please also note that the theme will not upscale the images. Your featured image must be at least the size of the thumbnail you want the post to show up in.

Bog grid 1 uses 532×462 for the big thumb and 265×198 for the small thumbs.
