Image thumbnails distortion

Hello, last 7 days I have a problem after image uploading – some of their thumbnails are distorted – for example see http://www.jedemenadovolenou.cz/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/kuks-vinobrani-1024×576.jpg
The problems occur with larger images (1200 px wide), pictures with width around 600 px are imported all right. I tried to increase max_execution_time but with no results. Do you have some idea what is the cause of this. I can create admin account for you to explore it.

Hi,

Now that is most unusual, I did not see this before. It doesn’t look like one of the theme created thumbnail sizes
https://www.screencast.com/t/0GzU6gOW
The theme will create only those thumbnail sizes if enabled. Also WordPress creates thumbnails with these default sizes

Plugins could also create thumbnails. That size does not appear to be one of the theme thumb sizes, you could investigate what exactly creates it.

Thanks

This bug also occurs on my another website, which is Woocommerce eshop. Because you suggest it can be caused by some plugin i deactivated all the plugins that use both of these sites (Akeeba back-up, Google tag manager, Disable XMP-RPC, Yoast, Custom permalinks and GDPR Cookie Consent), than deleted the cache, waited some time and tried to upload new image. The error is still there and I have no idea what could cause it.

Maybe the hosting could take a look, especially if both of your websites use the same hosting provider. I have not seen this before as well, also online I found no similar issue.
The server should have the GD library extension enabled for image processing, you could check that as well

You could also try to regenerate the thumbnails and see what happens

Hello Simion, problem has been solved. We used PHP 5.6, hosting provider told me to switch to PHP 7.2. Thumbnails are ok now plus websites are much faster. Thanks a lot for your help. Have a nice day.
