Hi I’m using Newspaper 12.7.1. We review games on our website and plan to use the theme’s built-in review system which allows us to provide a score and a summary.
My question is whether or not the theme’s review system is compatible with Google’s Review Snippets (documentation here: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/review-snippet). I found the Newspaper theme’s documentation on Reviews, but I don’t see any mention of compatibility with Review Snippets, Schema.org, or anything specific to SEO.
It’s important for our site to have compatibility with Google Review snippets. If it is not included by default, is there any way to add it with a plugin or similar, while retaining the use of the theme’s own review system?

Our current site is running a year’s old version of Newsmag (not Newspaper). Although it has a similar review system, the tester you shared is saying our reviews are not valid for inclusion in Google snippets, even though Google clearly sees that the post type is declared as a “Review”:

We have hundreds of such reviews. Any idea how we can fix this in the meantime, until we get the new version of our site online?

I see, the problem is taht the theme version you are using is not old is very old, it is from 2016, what I will recomand is to create a stagin, update the theme there and with the last Newsamag version make a test to see re results in https://search.google.com/test/rich-results those should be passing.
