Lifestyle Magazine – Grid Style 1 Default, Show Different Categories?

Hi tagdiv,

I am using the Lifestyle Magazine demo. For the top 3 squares, the Grid Style 1 Default, I would like to show 3 different categories. I’d like the first square to show the most recent in my Events category, the second square to show most recent in my What’s New Category, and the third square to show the latest in my Featured category. Is this possible with Grid Style 1 Default? If not, is it possible for me to make something like that with other blocks?

Thank you,
Jennifer

Hi,

Unfortunately, this is not possible with our theme, sorry! The theme does not allow you to set up a different sorting for each box from your Big Grid, sorry! Note that functionality works for the entire block element, sorry! If you want to achieve something similar to this, you need to use more blocks and place them similarly.

Thank you!

Hi Catalin,

Thank you for your response. You say, “If you want to achieve something similar to this, you need to use more blocks and place them similarly.” Can you please tell me how to do so?

Thank you so much,
Jennifer

hi, thank you so much for your response. i just have one more question. your instructions were great, but it is possible for the blocks to link to a category page, instead of an individual post page? thanks again!

Hi,

You can set on header title an url -> https://www.screencast.com/t/aZTaMGyu you can go on the category of that post from blocks if you click on that category tag -> https://www.screencast.com/t/huPNqQMSLch

Thank you!

Thank you so much for your response. So there’s no way to make three big category blocks (first block is always fashion, second block is always travel, third block is always dining) and the whole block is clickable to a category page (not a post page)?

If possible, I’d love for the block to preview (image) the latest post in that category, but again, still link to a category page.

if i can’t do 3 blocks at the top with the TD Composer, each block linking to different category pages, do you suggest I just code them with HTML to give the look of the lifestyle magazine theme, yet linking to category pages instead of post pages?

i was able to pull it off. i viewed the source of your HTML code for the Lifestyle Magazine demo, pulled out the 3 blocks at the top, pasted them into a Raw HTML block, and changed the URLs to category pages. if there’s ever a way to do this with composer instead, please let me know. and thank you for all your help. i am loving this theme!

well dang. it seemed to be working, but now when i try to go to TD Composer for my home page, it doesn’t load. I get this error, “Errors at columns elements: 1(models) : 2(dom). The model does not match the content”. seems i’m stuck.

so i can’t get back into TD Composer. if i look at the code in the basic WordPress edit, the code has turned into a pile of letters. i can remove those, and get back into TD Composer, but when i try again with the Raw HTML, I get the same issue. can’t get back in again. why is this happening and what can i do?

Hi,

Usually this is happen when the content is not set using tagDiv Composer, and the code can not be interpreted or provide some incompatibilities.

Please check this article for when tagDiv Composer is not working -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-not-working/

Thank you!
