Hi

I’ve checked your site and and the menu works fine on tablet device: http://screencast.com/t/ODk6LSiIKFxQ If you still have this issue try to clear tablet’s cache memory then test the site again.

Thanks!

Hello Andrei,

the drop menu works fine, the problem is when you click on nav link like “concelhos”, the link doesn’t work. If you try it on tablet in vertical position everything goes fine. Sometimes i have difficulty to express in english but i send you another picture http://www.screencast.com/t/OeSzio2lUA.

best regards

Hi Andrei,

I have the same problem: http://www.publicholidayguide.com. On my tablet I click on the main menu and the mega menu drops down. However I cannot get to the page “Bank Holidays 2016” because when I click on it again it just retracts and disappears. The same for “Religious Holidays” also with a drop down mega menu.

You say you don’t see the problem, but I think you are using a desktop/laptop with a tablet “tool” or function – not an actual table because I cannot see your hand and the functionality is different.

I agree with Bandos, the mega menu does not work on a tablet.

What do you suggest?

Thanks.

Robin

Funnily enough, my menus used to work on iPad in where I could click the “main” item and it would work, but no longer do. The sub-menu items work, but not the “main item” on the menu when there is drop-down. This is using Safari in portrait or landscape on iPad. Same behavior in Chrome on iPad as well.

And, I’m actually several versions back on NewsMag, and not yet installed WP 4.5 just because I’m still testing some stuff with jquery.

So, this isn’t specific to the latest version(s) or anything. This change actually came awhile back on iPad, and I decided I was too busy to deal with it. On California Newswire, I started just adding the main menu item again as the first thing in drop down …

e.g.,
POLITICS
> Calif. Politics

so that way the first secondary menu item is the same as the main “short item” label…..

Anyway… point of all that was — yes, the “main” item label doesn’t work as link on iPads with latest iOS version WHEN there is sub-menu. However, it *did* work in prior iOS version. So, go figure.

Hi

The mega menu have a different functionality on tablet than on desktop and works like this:
– on desktop when user hover over the menu item the mega menu part it’s displayed. Also if the user click on menu item will be redirected to the link set on that item.
– on tablet when user click first time on menu item the mega menu it’s displayed and at second click it’s hidden. We didn’t managed to find a solution for navigation link set on the item which display a mega menu in same time. At the moment on tablet you can’t have an item which display a mega menu and also a navigation link on that item.
We still work on this and hopefully in a future version of the theme we will be able to implement a fix for this.

Thanks for your understanding.

Hi guys,
Sorry but this is ridiciulous that it doesnt work! Please solve this immediately! Is there not a turnaround?

Post count: 6535

Hi

Unfortunately there is no easy way to fix this bug because when you’re using a mega menu and a navigation link basically you have two links on the same item. If we make the link clickable then the mega menu won’t be closed.
We hope to find a better way in future updates so the navigation link to work on tablets devices but I can’t say how much time will pass until then.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi Andrei,

I have to agree with @kognitoweb. Your theme is mobile friendly but it’s certainly not mobile ready. This is terrible.

My main page is the Bank Holidays page, and the menu is critical to any website. The fact is it doesn’t work. While pages are also available on other elements of the site, e.g. sidebar, it will render differently on different devices.

I’m going to give it a slating on Envato. It is bad.

Will be happy to change my review when the problem is resolved.

Hi Andrei,

In addition, you tried to fob off @Bandos with a quick and cheap answer in the hope that he/she would not reply. That’s awful! You only admitted to the problem – the major problem – when someone else (me) also brought it up.

That is terrible!

I really like the theme but there is a bug/problem and you shouldn’t fob off your customers like this.

Robin

Same here with @robineyre , you cannot just say its a current problem and leave it over. This is a MAJOR BUG and we expect to fix this immediately! I will also consider my vote on Envato.
Please fix it! Im also NOT using the Mega Menu possibilites so, if it helps to turn it off?

Hi

We’re sorry for all these inconveniences encountered using our theme but unfortunately current implementation for mega menu can’t make the navigation link functional on tablets. Also @robineyre I am not trying jump over this hoping that nobody will notice because that is technically impossible. This is an old issue and was reported many times before. We did tried to find the best solution in order to fix it but still couldn’t make a fix for it.

This is how mega menu with a navigation link works on desktop:
– when the user hover over the menu item then the mega-men it’s displayed
– when the user clicks on the menu item it’s redirected to the navigation link set.
On tablets this functionality it’s very hard to achieved because the hover part is missing and must be replaced with something else. On tablets the mega menu works like this:
– when the user first click on the menu item the mega menu opens then when clicks again the menu closes.
– if you have a navigation link set on the item technically speaking there is no space for it to make it functional.

We still looking for a better way to implement this feature for tablets but it will take a while until an update on it will be made.
Unfortunately we can’t offer an immediate solution so if you consider that the theme isn’t suitable for you at the moment we’re willing to provide a redound. For this you can ask at envato market and as soon they contact us we will agree with it.

Again we’re sorry for all inconveniences!
Thanks!

Just as an aside — what another theme did, which was “sort of” clever, but also a tad confusing, is they made down arrow prominent next to each item, and then on mobile the down arrow (chevron, whatever) would trigger the drop down menu, but “main” item would function as on desktop as a “click location”

So, desktop would work as TagDiv menu does now.

iPad, the behavior would change so that only down arrow would trigger drop down, but the “main” menu item would work when clicked directly and would not trigger drop down menu.

Took me a bit to figure out and was intially annoyed the drop down menu didn’t work, and I’d keep going to the actual page — which is the situation TagDiv trying to address, and the way most “mega menus” work … but once I figured it out, I went “oooooh…. hey, that’s kind of clever” ….

Not sure this would be solution here; but I suppose on mobile people might be more likely when not using hamburger menu to want to go to main item vs drop down.

Of course, also note many theme devs just default to hamburger menu/slide out, to solve this issue entirely.

Andrei’s explanation is correct and logical for how the menu works, so not a bug… but simply no other way for it to work on mobile as you can’t have a button be a link and a drop down trigger ‘on tap/touch’ as there is no hover.

Anyway… the down arrow = trigger dropdown menu would be ONE solution, and it’s clever. Of course people complain about that solution too 🙂

Hi

Thanks @Chris for your suggestion and for your reply.
This implementation could be a solution and is in our attention for future updates. However we have to carefully analyze how menu’s structure will be affected and finally to choose the best way of doing this but in the same time we have to keep a simple way of using it.

Thanks!

Hi to the discussion,
Meanwhile you guys are fixing the problem it would be helpful to let us know how we can activate the “hamburger menu” for Tablet, I couldnt make it with CSS. Anyone?
Thanks!

Post count: 6535

Hi

I assume that you tried to make the mobile menu active on tablets.
To achieve that it’s required a new function in theme’s js which will detect the tablet devices and will apply a specific style for the menu depending by the header style used. Basically you’ll need to rewrite all header style for tablet so the mobile menu to be displayed fine.
We didn’t make any testes to check how mobile menu will work on tablets and the theme don’t have any implementation for this feature. Unfortunately I can’t provide a solution now as the required customizations involve lot of time and also many tests. This new feature should be tested to work with all theme’s header styles on many devices and various browsers.

Thanks!

Can you please solve this or give a patch out, its Version 7 and the issue is still the same, thats not acceptable!

Post count: 6535

Hi

For the moment we don’t plan to change current implementation of mega menu. I’ve explained in my previous reply why the navigation link and mega menu item do not work on tablets. O possible solution involve a new structure for mega menu and this takes time to be achieved.
We also don’t plane to insert the hamburger menu on tablets. We may change our mind in the future but I cannot promise anything for sure.

Thank you!
