I cannot get the main menu to show up on my site. I have flushed the cache, deleted and rebuilt the menu about seven times now and nothing works!
If I build the menu and assign it to the top bar it shows up just fine, but does NOT show up on the main menu. I have played around with colors, everything–if I change the font color is shows up on the search icon, but the menu items never appear. I have flushed the cache many times as well. All my other changes show up instantly so I don’t think this is a cache issue.
I’m at my wit’s end really.
thanks
You can generally only assign one menu to each space; so I usually create a new menu called “topbar” for the top bar, “underfoot” for footer, and “mainmenu” for the main menu under logo. Then assign each of those locations. I use the normal menu editor under appearance > menus
You create the menus normally per the docs on WordPress.org for WP; but if you’re not doing the above, you might consider it. I have zero issues with menus on four sites I’m updating right now.
Sorry if that doesn’t help your particular problem.
(I don’t work here.)
Hi @missnancykb
Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, just to make sure that there are no conflicts between the theme and other plugins. Let me know how it goes and if the problem persist please provide your site url so I can inspect it closer and get back to you with a more accurate answer.
Thanks!
Hi Andrei,
thanks for your reply.
I had disabled many of my kinda frivolous plugins but not the ones I know I really can’t live without i.e. a caching plugin (this case W3 Total Cache, which my previous theme and host likes). Per your advice, I disabled it and BOOM!–instantly the menu appeared! YAY!
I am working on a staging copy right now, but if i decide to use this theme I will simply switch to the caching plugin it is compatible with.
I really want to use this theme because of its high pagespeed score, but it is a big transition moving from one theme to another! Knowing what plugins the theme is compatible with is half the battle. thanks for the list and advice.
Thank You,
Hi
Glad I could help.
Not that for caching we recommend Wp Super Cache plugin with the configuration indicated in our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/ Try this plugin and check how it goes.
Thanks!
