when using the mobile theme, the slider show only the later articles and not the articles i have chosen to appear in the slider. can it be fixed somehow?

Hi,
What slider would that be exactly? if you use the mobile theme, this will not display the same content you have created for the desktop pages

The plugin is optional however, you can simply not use it and display the same content from desktop (responsive version).
