I am receiving both mode-less.js and text.js errors. I searched the forum but can’t seem to find a solution. Any help?

Please make sure that you have the last theme version ( Newspaper v9.7.3) and that you made a clean installation ( you do not overwrite other version of theme), also please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict and all the theme e requirements are set according to our guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/

Quick update, I went through all of my plugins and discovered the error was being triggered by SG Optimizer (Siteground Plugin). By unclicking the Minify Javascript button, it fixed the problem.
With that said, is there a preferred pluggin for minifying javascript?

Unfortunately we can not recommend a plugin for this, because we did not tested any kind of them and we do not know if those will work properly with our theme or not.
What you should do is to make an environment for testing and try there some plugins for minify js
