Newspaper 10 Theme – Creating a New Site Quick Tutorial

Is there a video that shows how to quickly set up a basic site with Newspaper 10? I’ve used past version, but feel like the new one has a very different setup flow. A quick video would be super helpful!

Thanks

Hello !

The setup is exactly the same but please note that if you want to have the same layout as before you have to keep the standard pack plugin active. If not we suggest using the PRO templates available.

Thank you !

Thanks, but I’d like to avoid using the Standard Pack due to speed. According to this, I don’t need to use the Standard Pack when building a brand new site:

Is there a recommended checklist or video for building a simple example site without the Standard Pack? That would be extremely helpful!

Thanks!

Hello !

If you’re building your website from 0 the best is to disable the standard pack from the begining, install a PRO demo or design your pages from 0. The standard pack is usefull when you had a site before the Newspaper 10 and wanted to keep the same aspect.

Thank you !

Thanks, but that’s not the point. The point is to create a site from 0 with a simple example checklist. In the past I created a setup checklist for Newspaper that looked like this:

1. Install Newspaper
2. Install X Plug-Ins (e.g. TD Composer)
3. Go Theme Menu
4. Select Header (e.g. Style 7)
5. Upload your logo and favicon
.. etc.

Would be great if you could walk people through creating a simple site without having to rely on a pre-canned demo. Either a blog post or quick video would be super helpful.

Thanks!

Hello !

You can follow our tutorials for different actions in the documentation tab here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-documentation/

I hope this was more helpful !

Thank you !

I’m familiar with all those tutorials – they are for older version. I’ve been using Newspaper for a long while now. What I’m asking for is a simple start-from-stratch walkthrough with v10 to set up a simple site without having to rely on loading a demo first.

Seems like a lot of people would benefit from that, especially new customers who are likely confused at this point with all the various ways to set the theme up.

Hello !

The easiest way would be to install a demo and edit it using the tagDiv Composer but if you want you can start adding templates according to our tutorials.

Thank you !

Thanks. What are the minimum recommended cloud templates? For example, I install the Default Pro demo, it installs the following cloud templates…

404 Template 1
Attachment Template 1
Author Template 1
Category Template 1
Date Template 1
Header Template 1
Search Template 1
Single Post Template 1
Tag Template 1

Are all of these needed if you are building simple site from scratch?

Thanks

Hello !

They are installed because they came in a package with the demo. The most needed I would say that are the Single Post ( That is for posts ), category if you want, Header and footer… The others you can remove but you can also leave them since they will not affect your speed or anything.

Thank you !

That’s super helpful, thank you! One other question – if I mix and match components for Example Category Template 5 with Single Post Template 1, does that potentially change things like the default font, etc.?

Anything to watch out there in terms of the way particular Cloud Templates adjust or override site-wide settings?

Hello !

You can do infinite combinations. Category template is category template, single post is single post. They are not related so you have free hand on all of them.

I hope this was helpful !

Thank you !

So then how are the default fonts set site-wide? Won’t certain Cloud Templates affect site-wide settings?

Post count: 18283

Hello !

Cloud Templates are fully editable using the tagDiv Composer and you can edit the fonts from the Style tab in tagDiv Composer as you can see it here: https://www.screencast.com/t/P4UcpE62x

Thank you !
