I’m going to update WordPress to 4.4. Are there problems with Newspaper 4.6.3?
Also, I’ve installed Visual Composer 4.4.4, do you suggest to upgrade or to leave 4.4.4?

Working for me so far. One hiccups was the super buggy Yoast SEO 3x. With 3.07 it seems they finally fixed that buggy misadventure. 🙂

Unfortunately we have not tested the new version of WP with the old version of our theme. It could create a few issues with your version as it did with version 6. We fixed the errors in version 6.6.3 but we cannot say for sure how it will affect newspaper 4. The best thing to do is always keep your theme up to date as WP and plugins get updated regularly and sometimes fixes are required and we cannot make fixes backwards compatible as well.

we did some customization on 4.6.3, like whatsap sharing for mobile and email sharing and print button on desktop version, so upgrading it to 6.6.3 means to test our customizations and may be remove that customizations…

Well you will only need to add the print button and email sharing as the whats up button was added in the current version of the theme 🙂 but the code you already have will not work anymore as the entire code of the theme was changed in version 6. It is a totally different theme than version 4.
If you decide to update, you can try it out on a sub-domain or staging/testing site and see how the update will work out for you.

This is entirely up to you. You can try to upgrade WordPress and see if any errors show up. On the current version of newspaper (version 6) only the pagination for category pages had some issues. It could be the same for your version or there could be other ones as well. I doubt it will break the theme though. You can try it out on a testing sub-domain and see how it goes without affecting your main site.

I’ve performed update locally, and after on live version, all works fine.
First updated js composer to 4.9, after wordpress 4.4.
So, Newspaper 4.6.3 and WordPress 4.4. works fine.
