I am looking to update our Newspaper 6 to 7 and it is asking me to remove 6 and to upload 7. Last time i did that (from 4 to 6) I had to remove 4 and then upload 6 before spending a good few hours customising the site so it resembles the previous site. Is there a way to get round this? I want to update it to Newspaper 7 but I am trying to find a way of not having to redo the sites customisation. Is there a way to update without removing the current design of the site? I hope someone can help and give me some good news that will make the whole process easier.

Updating from 4 to 6 was a huge leap. The change from 6 to 7 should work fine because you are already using the Redux Framework backend.
I used sFTP and uploaded over the files currently on the site but always have a backup in case something goes wrong. Here’s a proper way:
Put the site in maintenance mode (https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-maintenance-mode/).
Use Filezilla (https://filezilla-project.org/) to connect to your server.
Download the current wp-content/themes/Newspaper folder to an archive location. Don’t overwrite the new version.
Using Filezilla, rename the online directory Newspaper to Newspaper6.
Upload the Newspaper 7 to wp-content/themes/Newspaper
Log into WordPress
Take site out of maintenance mode
Enter Theme Panel and check settings.
Save as necessary.

Before each update, we recommend doing a full backup to your data because in this case you will avoid losing all your data. Please keep in mind that the updating from 6 to 7 it is not comparable with the updating from 4 to 6. If you are custom modification through the code and you are not using the child theme, please keep in mind that all of them will be overwritten by the new update.
