Im having a few issues and I honestly don’t know when they started. Im messing about with settings to try to sort but it feels like putting my finger in a leaky dam.
I haven’t actually made any major changes, everything was just in a holding with plugins/themes being kept up to date but as we became more active again problems that had appeared were more obvious. Right now my issues are:
– 2nd level menu navs dont seem to work, scrolling across or highlighting subsections
– the search option on a browser just doesnt do anything except load the page again with the /?
– the mobile theme/amp is the biggest issue with some previously ok in page plugins no longer loading depending on what amp/mobile setting combination I use but the ones that make it display mean the smartlists do not load or work. Mostly smartlist 4 is most used but it shows the first item on a mobile site and you hit next and it just reloads the page
Im at a loss to figure out where to start because this was running great not so long ago and just seems to have gotten into a state of, I have no idea what has happened.
Obviously the turning off plugins thing is something i can do but I haven’t added any new plugins to the mix, we were in maintaining mode
Feels like all my problems are in the mobile view really. I went through and disabled almost everything to make the desktop view fine (but I have to turn some of the things I turned off back on still), but the mobile site just has stuff that doesnt load or loads incorrectly, or doesnt respond
If you look at https://geeksociety.com.au/2021/03/03/whats-on-mar-3-9/ on a mobile device right now it is using the smartlist but if you tap next it will just reload the same page over
Hi,
I see that you use Newspaper and not Newsmag theme.
Also the problem can be that you are using the last WordPress version 5.6.2 but an old theme version Newspaper v10.1 and this version is not full working with WP 5.6 https://i.imgur.com/6h7ea4S.png -> https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
Before any theme update make sure that you make a full backup to your website and database -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
After theme update, if you do not have any plugins in conflict with our theme, the smartlist should work correctly.
Thank you!
Oh sorry, I can go post the same question in the newspaper group (I thought I had clicked the right one).
I am using 5.6.2 and 10.1. Do I need to update or are you saying there is a bad version of the 10.1 update and I should try to update again? Can you uninstall the tagdiv themes without losing the settings?
Did you want me to go ask in the newspaper groups instead?
Hi,
There is no bad version, but is old and the code from it is not compatible with the latest WordPress code, that is way you need to update the theme.
Also if you didn’t made changes in theme files, then will be no setting lost, but we still recommend to make a full backup before theme update.
Also is no need to as again in Newspaper forum, I will move this topic there.
Thank you!
Ok Im confused. So I’m currently at the latest version I believe. WordPress 5.6.2 and theme 10.1.
Hi evilspyboy, You are not right, the latest newspaper theme version is 10.3.9.1, please check this link https://i.imgur.com/iFiwKh3.png -> https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
Before theme update, please backup your website -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Thank you!
Will I lose any settings that I have populated in the theme? I haven’t modified files but I am sure I would have used the options in the theme to apply settings like google adsense settings, navigation menus to use, etc.
Nevermind, I did the backups and found export options then it was ok afterwards EXCEPT – I did have to change the menu options as they defaulted to something different. So that might be dev feedback that the top bar and the menu bar defaulted to a different option after an update install.
Updating seemed to have sorted some of the issues I was having but Ill have to work my way through
