Hello,
Recently I installed Newspaper on a brand new WordPress. After activation, I wrote some posts and set a default homepage. To each post I uploaded a featured image.
The problem I am facing is that the theme is cropping just ONE thumbnail although the default blocks display images that have different aspect ratio.
As a result, no matter what image size the featured image has (and no matter what the aspect ratio is), on some blocks it will look alright while in others won’t. (As it’s impossible to display one thumbnail in boxes that have different aspect ratios).
Here are an example: I uploaded a simple read image. With this aspect ratio, it looks OK in the boxes from the left part, but it looks bad in the boxes from the left side (compare the red one with the default ones).
If I change the aspect ratio to suite left side, it is broken on the right side.
Another example: I uploaded a picture to suite the left and the top side. Look at the thumbnail in the middle (compared to the white, default one). You can notice the created thumbnail has a different width.
Is there a way to solve this? Each block need it’s specific thumbnail aspect ratio/size else 2 different blocks cannot be used on the same page. And this is kinda theme related…
Thanks!
Hi,
Each block is different, and it contains a combination of modules which use different thumb sizes – https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/ Also here is more information about how the cropping of the feature images works – https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/ In your case from what I can see when the post has a featured image set, the module gets smaller in size somehow when it should remain the same. Try to use your browser inspector and check the thumbnail size for a block and module where this happens – https://www.screencast.com/t/kOTSIpm6kN and compare it to what it should be in theme panel – https://www.screencast.com/t/PyZlIubvU Or if you could provide a link to your site we can take a look at this. In most of the cases any image or thumb related problem is caused by a plugin, so you could try also to disable all your plugins except Visual composer, clear your cache and see if it still happens.
Thanks
Hi Simion,
Thanks for your time!
The website URL is : https://esportsmedia.ro/
Currently I tried to work a little bit around it, but I can create a page where you can see exactly.
How could I provide you with an Administrator account?.
The plugins I currently have are only VC and recently installed AMP (problem was before installed AMP as well).
So, there can’t be any plugins issues.
Hello,
I created a new page here, to output the problems I mentioned above.
1. First block: the first image should fill the entire box. Currently it doesn’t.
2. Third block: the thumbnail crop is very zoomed in for the vertical tabs.
3. You can check all other blocks below. I uploaded a picture and the thumbnail created should be just like the white images you provide as defaults. Currently, the width is shorter, it looks bad.
4. On the right sidebar, the image we uploaded has a different height as the one you provided (it;s very easy to determine the difference).
Important note: All images we uploaded are at least 800 x 600, so croping a thumbnail for a specific size SHOULD NOT be a problem.
I can upload a feature image in any resolution and any aspect ratio, but fixing one blocks screws up the rest. Therefore, I can use only one block type on the website currently.
As it is, the front pages look very cheap and poorly coded in order to make the website public.
Let me know if administrator rights are needed.
Thanks!
Hi,
It seems there is a thumbnail problem on most of your blocks. If you are using a child theme try switching to the main theme to rule that out, if you have any custom code added in theme panel or the theme files please check that also. Then try regenerating your thumbnails using this tutorial here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/ After regenerating clear your cache (very important) and purge cdn files if you use it.
Thanks
Hello,
Thanks for the reply again!
I tried as you mentioned on our test environment. Nothing changed.
We sent you an e-mail in our mother tong for better communication. Hope we can sort this out as it’s quite important.
Thanks!
